Can anyone give me suggestions on what to do for teething. My son is 4 months and he is getting a tooth. I've heard of the basics like teething rings, putting rum/whiskey on their gums (i will not do that) but I was wondering if anyone had some 'secrets'. Thank you!

My son is about to turn 4 months and has been teething for a few weeks...he is like a leaky faucet we cant get control over. He isnt overly cranky, but he loves if when we rub his gums. He also does not quite have the coordination to hold a teething ring, but he likes to bit my fingers when Im holding him too (of course wash your hands first). We also found a pacifer at babies r us that is a teething paci...we put water inside and freeze it and he can handle that....its still a little big for him, but he likes it. Frozen washclothes have been great too bc he can hold onto though and he loves holding on the blankets and rolling around anyway. You can also give baby tylenol if its bad at night before bed.

Check previous threads - there is lots of ideas out there. We used Pamol, giving before he went to sleep and then when he woke in the night. Also Weleda teething powder which calms them and helps sleep. Bonjela rubbed on sore gums worked a bit though it's only really suitable when they don't have many teeth.

My little boy started teething at 3 months, He didn't go through the fits and the crying and all of the regular symptoms of teething. However, when my oldest was teething she was miserable, she couldn't chew on a teether and wouldn't take a pacificer. Because of her health issues I could not give her ambisol. What you may want to do is use a luke warm wash cloth and gently massage his gums. If he is bottle feeding they make a nipple with little nubs on it. Those worked wonders for my second child as long as I didnt mind him gnawing on his bottle. My Youngest likes to chew on clean T-Shirts. I dont know if it is a comfort thing because of his teeth or if he is just goofy.

My son is 4 months also and working on a tooth or 2. If your little man is like mine, he may not have the cordination to work a teething ring very well. I keep pacifiers in the fridge for him to suck on. I did it with my daughter also and it worked great. Something else I do for him if he seems extra uncomfortable is rub his gums myself.

You can take a washcloth, wet a small corner, and freeze. They also make baby anbesol if you really feel your baby is in pain. We've only used that once, and it helped my son sleep, but I only use it if he's clearly in discomfort. Good luck!
