My son is going to be 3 in Dec. and we found out July of last year he had to have tubes put in his ears and plus had to have his tounge clipped! Well since they found it late he doesn't talk like a normal 2 1/2 year old. He goes thru therapy every week plus in Jan. he will prolly be starting school. Okay does anyone else have this problem?

We don't have that exact problem, but some kids do start talking later than others. It sounds like your son has some challenges that are preventing him from developing at the same rate as other kids, but it doesn't mean he won't learn or won't catch up. If you continue the therapy, it is likely he will develop normally, just with this slight delay.

Also, have you considered sign language? There are great DVDs that teach signing, and kids catch on really quick. I'm not suggesting he won't learn to communicate verbally too, and learning to sign won't hinder his verbal progress.... BUT it could be really helpful for him in the mean time, while he catches up - in terms of frustration levels. From my experience, kids who don't have a lot of vocabulary (my own DD when she was 4 only had about 20 words) can act out, tantrum, and get so frustrated that it can lead to things like biting others because they don't feel understood.

Good luck, and most of all, don't worry. He will be who he will be, and you will love him for it :-)

If you see this, leave this form field blank.
