My almost 4 month old has been sleeping in my room in a playpen since he was born. He just recently got a sleep schedule of 10-7 so i thought it was time to move him to his crib. The first night he woke, we had plans in the morning so i just put him in the play pen and he went back to sleep, The second night he slept through. The third night he woke a few times through out the night one time i had to touch him, once i had to hold and feed him.Other time i shhhh him. . dont want to lose that schedule, Before this change he was sleeping right through the night. not sure what to do. I am open to suggestions.

Not that it helps your situation...but I have read several items on their sleep schedule changing at 4 months. I didn't experience it with my first child but my son had been sleeping 5-6 stretches and right when he hit 4 months he was waking up again every couple of hours. He still isn't back to 5-6 hours at a time yet at 6 months. Hope it gets better for you,

My son was like this and it helped by slowly transitioning him. We went from our bed to a cot in our room, then the cot in his room and finally his own bed. Maybe putting him to sleep in his playpen in his room for a while will help him sleep through.

that is  very strange .. .. my daughter is kind of the same way . when i first started putting her in her crib she would sleep for up to 8 hours at a time, eat and sleep a few more hours.. now she goes to bed around 8. wakes at 230 and again between 430 and 630.. babies are very aware of change...i would also like to get my daughter sleeping through the night. if anyone else has any suggestions let me know!!

Quoting Tabitha:

the best advice i got once i started putting my daughter in her crib was .. do not pick her up once he is in .. you have to remind yourself he is full. clean and  safe.. he will eventually put himself to sleep.. i mean ocfourse its okay to be in the room and shhh him or rub his back/tummy which ever way you lay him..  it might take a few nights to get him used to the new bed .. but sooner or later he will get used to it.... Remember there is light at the end of the tunnel..... ps your lucky  your son is sleeping through the night   my 3 month old is still waking for 1 or 2 feedings a night!

well so far he seems to be waking for one feeding since i started putting him in his crib, early morning feed. So much for the sleeping through. He will go to sleep in his crib, he just seems to wake through the night now. where he was sleeping right through before in the playpen.

I don't know if this'll help you, but our 2 month old had originally slept in her room, but we got a playpen and moved her to ours after I got released from a 2nd hospital stay. We started transitioning her back to her room 2 weeks ago but this week got serious about it - My husband sits in the rocker right by her crib for the first 1/2 hour every night after I read her a book (a nice long one that she falls asleep about 1/2 way through but I read the whole thing). Since she often opens her eyes after getting in the crib, it seems to help that he's there and she just closes them again. She doesn't sleep all night yet (still on an every 3 hr feeding schedule), but at least we get some sleep.
