Most babies don’t enjoy being on their tummy, so you have to work at it a bit. Make sure you get down there with him, and use a favorite toy to keep his interest. You can also try a ball in front of baby, and talk to him or distract him with pictures of animals, etc. Put the ball or other objects just out of reach to encourage forward movement. Crawling, and other forms of crawling, doesn’t generally begin until around 9 months of age. My 6 month son also HATED tummy time. He was developing fine, so I didn't push it. He can sit up and now lunges forward and ends up on his belly on his own, which he seems to like better than me putting him like that. I've put him sometimes by a mattress (about 6 inches high) so he can practice the crawling motion by climbing up on it from a seated position.

babies will crawl in their own time. my daughter HATED tummy time, she also refused to crawl for a LONG time (she preferred walking holding my hands). don't worry about it. try working on sitting up instead...prop him up on pillows...he may prefer that.

My son is going to be 7 month old and we had the same problem..he hated being on his belly but we kept putting him on his belly anyway..at least once a day, just for a while and he would scream most of the time.We put toys around him so, he is motivated little bit but it did not help much. He learnt how to sit and the sitting was the only position that he wanted to be in. Just couple days ago he changed...he is having fun being on his belly, lifting his bud and is trying to crawl now....babies changed very fast..one day his favourite position can be sitting and another day it can be on his belly...
