Using Similac Alimentum???

My son is 7 weeks old now & has went from enfamil lipe regular to enfamil gentlease to now similac alimentum. The symptoms started with him throwing up like an exorcist, then mor & more fussyness & crying. Then straight water diarria for a week. I finally couldn't take him crying anymore, also i knew somthing was up, so we went to the ped. I explained what was going on the doc. asked if he had a snoty nose alot i said yeah a lil hear lately, I thought it was b/c of a cold. he then felt and touch and pressed my sons tummy then wrote a script for similac alimentum & said my son has a alergy to cows milk. I just wonder how does the doc. know that my son has an alergy just by what all he did during that examination??? I also wonder if this similac alimentum is really a good product for my son. So if any mothers out there can please let me know their thoughts, story & outcome it would really help out alot, I know I am a first time mother and worry ALOT so I thought this would help me out, maybe knock the edge off a little. I had the same issue with my daughter. She was about 2 months old and had several "colds" which what I thought it was and was so congested for over a month. One morning she woke up with a rash all over her body, I called the ped right away. He diagnosed her with a milk protein allergy. He gave us similac alimentium and in about a week or so she cleared right up. She is a totally different baby and took very well to the formula. She's now 6 months and is doing great.

Same with my daughter alimentum is for all of thoughs explained, my baby was on it and it didnt work, she is on nutramigen now and it work wonders. If that formula works for him, if you decide to have another baby you can start him out on that formula so that you dont got through the same thing again :)

Hey hun. I have alot of experience with allergies as my 7 year old is allergic to everything. Secondly, I just started using enfamil nutramigen which is basically the same thing as alimentum for my 6 month old who was showing signs of a milk and soy allergy. The reason he asked about a running nose is, one sign of allergies is a runny nose, along with some coughing, wheezing, vomiting and diarhea in some cases. He also felt his tummy for hardness from gas and such which is another symptom. I hope this formula helps ur little one. I don't have much experience with this formula yet, but I recently weaned my son from the breast and he was showing the same symptoms as ur son to the soy and reg formula. So we r both new to it. I had that problem. But as it turned out my son isnt actually allergic to cows milk. He just has an intolerance to formula. So his ped had me put him on solids at 2 1/2 months. Talk to your ped about that because it maynot be the same problem for your baby but it is worth looking into
