wow, what a fun way to hear other mom's stories!! I am extremely jealous of all of you who had extremely short labor!! I thought I was fast and I was completely done within 9 hours... including induction. That part was easy peasy! It was the recovery part that sucked.. :)

I had my first baby July 14th. I think mine was extremely fast I was in labor only 2 hrs and 49 minutes. From the time my doctor broke my water until he was born. I was shocked as well as the nurses and doctors that my labor and delivery went so fast!

Yes. My first one was 30hrs and had epidural for the last 7 hrs.Pushed 2 hrs and my 9pounder was out.My 2nd was 4 hrs .Told my husband they will probably just send us home. He said know way you used your natural herbs to have an easier birth.Thats what we had. Not a whole lot of pain.20 min pushing. She was 8 lbs. Baby #3 was 6hrs and not very hard labour. I had kidney stone with her the last month and awful back pains. Was very scared for labour. But passed stone before her birth. She was 9lbs again With the last 2 I remember contractions were not as close as most people I talk with,Could rest inbetween even while pushing.

I had my daughter at 38 weeks 4 days. Between the time I noticed the contractions were pretty strong and the time I had her was 9 hours. Everyone says it was quick and easy... not that i remember it that way lol.

I was in labor for about 36 hours, then because i wasn't progressing, the size of the baby and his heart rate dropping, I had a c-section. My labor started around 9 am on thursday, and he was born on friday night at 11:31, at 10pounds and 11oz, 21 inches long. I didn't have any pain for about the first 24 hours but was in the hospital for a nonstress test and it showed a labor pattern on the monitoring. At about 8:30am on friday i got an epidural and the rest was pain free.............

But the day I had my son I went to the hospital at 7 that night and had him at 3:53 the next morning.. but that was my first kid.. might be quicker for number 2..

My first baby came 2 weeks early and in 2 hours my water broke got to the hospital and she was born ... when I arrived at the hospital I was already 91/2 cm dilated. I still coudn't push for 20 mins as I had to wait for the gynae to arrive (it was 5 am in the morning) so even with that 2 hours :-) All natural

My son was born 2 weeks before christmas, exactly 2 weeks early. i felt the first contractions probably around 12 noon (which i didn't realize for about an hour...), got to the hospital at 2:30 and bubba came out at 5. didn't even have time for epidural! the nurses didn't even bother checking how dilated i was before they wheeled me into the labor room... must have been my screams..!

Quoting Emily:

Nooooo! I was really surprised about that though. My mother had four kids and was in labor 2 hours with the three girls and 45 minutes exactly with my brother who was her second child. My labors were 29 and 42 hours total. When it was finally time to push, though, they just kind of flew out. I have been told I precipitate babies. Which I guess means it take a long time to get to the second stage, and when they finally get into position they come quickly.

I feel for you my first one was 8 hours 6 of which I spent at home showering making my bag up and just organizing like dishes and stuff . With my second I was 3 cm dialated for almost 3 weeks then they induced me because no movement his heart beat was barely there. And tone was not good in the ultrasound. After that my labour was 2 hours but it was so scary my blood pressure dropped every body was running everywhere and I was so scared to look at him because I thought I would lose him. I dont think he was okay. It was the hardest 5 minutes of my life from when they took him away for the check on everything and I was also told by several doctors and midwives even ultra sound techs I had nine ultrasounds alltogether  they informed me he would be less then 4 pounds but he was born at a healthy 7pounds 3 ounces. I thought it was a perfect dream at the time the doctor said his weight now I just know hes perfect.

I had a bit of blood tinged mucus when I wiped around 9:00 pm. My butt started aching around three am. My husband suggested I might be in labor and that we ought to go to the hospital around 6:30. I said no. At 7:00 he again suggested that I was probably in labor and maybe we should pack a bag and go to the hospital. I flat out refused. By 7:30 he got me to put on some shoes and and a skirt to go with my lovely tank top and panties ensemble, but I refused a coat because I did not want to go because even though by then I thought I might be in labor I was certain I wasn't for than 4 cm dilated and I did not want to be at the hospital all day. He tossed a blanket over me and put me in the car. When I arrived and they checked me I was 9 cm dilated and he nurse coudl feel my son's head. I checked in a little before 8:00 am and they were going to break my water, but my water broke while the nurse was getting gloves and the hook ready and at that point she could see my son's head. He was born at 8:34 am, and I think he would have come sooner but for some reason they forced me to get an IV (three nurses came in and held me down while the midwife started it) and once my water broke I couldn't really tell when I was contracting so I wasn't sure when to push and I was tired from not sleeping that night.

No pain meds, no tearing, I was up out of the bed in under an hour.

I had my first about 3 months ago. He was one month early. They had to induce me on a friday night due to severe preeclampsia. I did not start to feel any contractions until Saturday around 3:30 or 4:00pm. I began pushing at about 5:30 and 5.44 he was out. I had two contractions that I really felt, and then I got the epidural, It was a piece of cake.

Throughout 4 of my labours, they have got progressively quicker!! No 1 3 hrs active labour, No 2 1.5 hrs, same with No 3 ! But No 4 arrived in 30 mins!! She was the only one I was induced with though, and had a very strong reaction to the gel!! I wouldn't recommend a labour that quick...it was stressful for my baby and I !!

I hate to be the one to bare possible bad news to the two ladys having their 3rd child and hoping for an hour labour. My first child was 4 hours labour, my second was 3 hours, and my 3rd was 12 hours, all three were natural, so intervention did not cause my 3rd to be longer. All 3 I pushed for less then 15 minutes with.

My waters broke at home at 1.30 am. I got to the hospital at 8 cm dilated and delivered my beautiful boy at 3.48am so just over 2 hours. He is my first and was 5 weeks early due to a blood clot behind the placenta bringing on early labour. He was fine and we went home the same day!

my first was a total of 4 hours from start to finish, when i got to the hospital i was already 9cm, my second was total of 2 hrs start to finish, my waters broke at home contractions was 5 mins apart from the start was also 9cm, so am not to sure what my third will be due july but there is a 9 year gap between my youngest and this on but by what the doctor and midwife have said it probably want make a difference so it could be an hour start to finish

My first baby was about 4.5 hours; however when I arrived at the hospital I was already at 4cm and 85% effaced . I had no idea because I really hadn't felt anything. I pushed for about 20 minutes. I didn't have any pain and had an epidural at 6cm. Everyone is different though.

I had my first last May. He came 3 weeks early - he was born the day I turned 37 weeks hehe. Was in labour for 29 hours. Went all natural ie pain free for the first 20 hours..then gave in to the epidural and got a few hours of sleep LOL. Pushed for 48 minutes & got him out. The pain was bad...but it was the pressure at the end that was killing me :O

I just had my first in Feb. I was in labor almost exactly 24 hours. It wasn't as bad as it sounded b/c I had pain meds and an epidural through some of it. Come to find out the baby was a little twisted and couldn't get out without a C-Section. I know a lot of women oppose pain management thru meds, but my baby and I came thru it just fine, happy and healthy, and if I had it to do over, I wouldn't change a thing!
