You may want to try smaller, more frequent bottles. I've heard (but honestly don't know if it's true) that with bottles that are too big babies can't absorb everything at once so nutrients get dropped.

We nursed, but when apart she drank 2.5 oz of my milk every 3 hours. She ate about a quarter of an avocado for breakfast and a variety of food for lunch, and just nursed at dinner.

ETA: I've always heard that formula or breast milk should be the staple of an infant's diet until one - solids before 1 are just for fun. My dd wasn't on a mostly-solid food diet until she was around 15 months or so. She grew just fine - 18.6 pounds at 6 months when we started solids, and 20 at a year. 50% from a year on (she's almost 3).

My daughter is just getting ready to turn 8 months old and she eats around 5 times a day right now. She just has started eating 6 oz when she doesnt eat solid baby food. She wakes anywhere between 5 am - 7 am and drinks a 6 oz bottle. then around 10-11 am she eats 4 oz of fruit and a 4 oz bottle. Around 2 pm she eats another 4 oz of solid veggies and another 4 oz bottle. She eats again around 6pm of 4-5 oz without solids and again around 9-10pm for her last feeding of the day of 6 oz. She stays on a pretty tight schedule but I am a little confused on how often she should be eating now that she has started drinking the 6 oz.

At 8 months my doctor did tell me that I had to make a decision, my son is 19 months now and is still underweight for his age group. I for breakfast gave my son eggs, which you shouldn't do right now cause of the recalls but oatmeal would be good. Along with his eggs I have him formula in a sippie cup. Then we would have a snack a few hours later, some of those yogurts or teddy grahms, then for lunch he loved the cans of vegall and the doctor said that was really good for him. Then for supper he would have like mashed potatoes. Of course he has formula with everything, and there were fruits. Then he had a bottle before bed. Just do what you and your baby feel.
