What mad youchoose one or the other or did your area even provide enough information on both of them?

The regular (Gomco clamp) method is better - removes all of the skin unlike the Plastibell which leaves a lot of skin.

thanks stephanie Iam actually researching for a friend my son is already done I used the basic method sounds like its less pain its hard to find information to compare both. Her son is 7 days and already has had a major infection in the foreskin so she has to get it done.

I chose not to circumcise my son. I find it unnecessary and painful for the little guy. I had no idea they have different techniques, sorry i can't help you. Best of luck

Quoting Emily:

Are you asking what the difference is or which people prefer? I think the plastibell sounds extremely cruel because the bell is actually inserted into the preputial cavity (over the glans and under the foreskin which are adhered together like a finger nail is adhered to a finger). then tied with a tight string cutting off all blood flow to the foreskin. After several days the prepuce (foreskin) caught under the string necrotizes and falls off. This type of circumcision is bloodless because the circulation has been cut of, not because it is uninvasive. THere is no open wound to become irritated or infected. This type can also be done by a realatively unskilled practitioner which I guess is a good thing because that means less risk of messing it up. All one has to know how to do is tie a surgical knot.

Thanks
