If theres any yellow fluid/blisters/scabby things then theres a bacterial infection too. If the rash doesn't clear within a couple days and you've tried creams and time out of a nappy i would probably go ahead and try a thrush cream on baby too. also if your using non disposable nappies you boil them really well and either tumble dry them hot or hang them in the sunlight to kill any bacteria.

A diaper rash is red, usually warm to the touch and if very bad, can be shiny or weeping clear fluid. A yeast infection usually presents with "satelite pustules" - red bumps that usually start outside the area of the diaper rash.
Zinc paste (any kind, ask your pharmacist, the stronger the better) is the best cream to treat the diaper rash. If you think there's a yeast infection, add clotrimazole (Canesten) cream to the spots (and the entire rash area, if you want) BEFORE the zinc paste.
The absolute best thing for diaper rash is time out of the diaper and away from pee/ poop. Hang out on the hardwood floor for a while and air out! Use a damp, clean cloth instead of a diaper wipe to clean the area to minimize any pain and irritation caused by the chemicals in the wipes.
If the rash isn't better within 2 days, or if your munchkin is really upset, running a fever or there's any blood/ broken skin, go see your doctor. You could have a bacterial infection as well.
Best of luck!!

my daughter had a diaper rash, not a bad one just one that wouldn't go away, for a couple of weeks.. we tried everything on it but nothing would work. i got a couple free samples of boudreaux's butt paste from our doctor and it was the only thing that would take the rash away! i also find sudocrem very good though!

of course you already know that diaper rash is when your baby's bottom is just red, well from my experience with yeast infections on my son the area is red and also has little bumps either all over or just on a small area i found the best product for both diaper rash and yeast infections is triple paste its amazing i swear by it, but if you think its a yeast infection and that its pretty bad see your baby's dr. hope this helps you
