My baby will be 1 year old on valentines day and she just started army crawling about a couple of weeks ago! and now she sometimes does the normal crawl but rarely she likes to roll around instead! lol...she rolls all over the house!! im not too worried about it just because all babies are different, :)

Don't worry about crawling too much, and remember that when your child crawls it might not be crawling as we think of it, on all fours, some army crawl, some bounce or shimmy on their bum or belly, if it's a consistent movement forward (or backwards!) it's crawling.

Crawling is also not considered a milestone in your childs development, some skip it and go straight to walking so don't sweat it :)

But If you want to encourage your baby to get moving play games down on the floor with them by moving in and out of reach while they are on their bellies. Try using you or toys, anything that your baby is willing to work to try to grab :) My little guys does a strange army crawl right now and that might be his only "crawl" before walking, who knows :) My doctor said what is important is that he is developing his fine and gross motors skills and appears to use both sides equally well, arms, legs hands etc.

Just in case you are wondering, many kids dont walk until 13-15 months on average, there are many who walk independently earlier (usually girls for some reason). Every child is different and as long as your doctor isn't concerned, then enjoy as your baby learns and discovers new things :)

It can depend on thier size also (if they are a chubba bubba) my daughter is 7 1/2 months and is nowhere near the crawling stage (closest she gets is moving her arms up & down) but she is a big baby (10.5 kgs) so finds it a bit more difficult to move around....

My daughter was 8 months old for crawling and 13 months old for walking. Every child is different and their ability to crawl or walk doesn't have anything to do with their mental development.

My son started crawling the day he turned 7 months old. My daughter was a week after 8 months (then walked a few weeks later).

My son started crawling at 10 months... seemed like forever. There is really no certain age for them to start. Just work with your child... put her toys just out of reach and see if she will try to go for them.

There isnt an exact time all children are different some dont crawl at all they will just get up and walk. My son rolled everywhere til about 8months then did the commando then just got up and walked. I wouldnt worry unless your child hasnt walked by age of about 18-20months its all normal development. Good luck enjoy the time before baby is up and into everything!

Well, the "norm" is around 8-10 months, but just remember every baby is different and some babies don't crawl at all - they go straight to walking. I wouldn't be too concerned, just as long your baby gets plenty of tummy time.

My daughter did the army crawl at 5 months and then crawled fully at 6 months. Every baby is different but generally they say babies crawl between 8 -10 months. Some babies dont crawl at all they just start walking.

My son was 6-7 months when he was doing the crawl backwards. By 8 1/2 months he was crawling around like crazy. Hasnt stopped since and has just taken his first steps. Normally between 6-10 months is the range for them to crawl.

There is such a wide age group for starting to crawl, and then there are some bubs who never do it.
My little man was 6.5mths for the 'traditional' crawl...and around 5mths for the 'commando/army' crawl.
