I have been wondering how to switch my son to eating 2nd foods. He loves the 1st foods. Like at breakfast I know cerel and fruit but what about lunch and dinner? At dinner do I give fruit, veges and meat or what? I have no clue where to begin or how. Any suggestions would help out a lot. My 6 month old is pretty much on a schedule right now but I dont know what to feed him.

You know I have the same questions as you regarding a 6 month old schedule and eating. I'm very new to this but I can tell you what I do. My son is breastfed, he's 6 months old, he's gets 2 2nd foods around 11 (1-Fruit and 1-Veggie) and 2 2nd foods around 6 or 7 (1-Fruit w/ Rice Cereal and 1-Veggie). The rest of the time is booby time. What i'm doing probably isn't right but it works for us. He is not a fan of meats or mac and cheese. With that said, just recently I tried sweet potatoes with turkey and Apples with chicken mixes and he liked them, to my surprise. Even daddy said he couldn't taste the meat in there, it just gave it a meatier texture.

You can ask this question of a 100 moms and probably get a 100 different answers. This is my 6 month old schedule. In the morning when my son wakes up he get's the boob (lol) and then around noon he gets a fruit purre (whether is banana, mango, apple etc or a mixture of them). Then he gets his dinner around 430ish, but I give him more boob in between. For dinner I make him a soup, I make all of his baby foods so I don't know if this is what you're looking for. His soup includes a chicken breast, potato, carrot, celery and onion. I also puree this. After his bath around 8pm he gets cereal (rice, wheat barley or a mixture of the three) followed by the boob until he drifts off to sleep for the night. He gets the boob at any other time in between feedings. Also before I mixed any of his food I exposed him to all the different veggies and fruits separately. Hope this helps

I feed my almost 7 month old fruit and cereal for breakfast.  For dinner she gets a root vegetable (carrot, squash, sweet potato) and a green vegetable w/cereal and fruit as a dessert.  If we are out somewhere for lunch then she gets either a little of what is on my plate (I make my own baby food so she is used to the stronger flavors) or fruit and cereal.  We are just starting on working meat in.  She is breastfed so I am taking my time.  Good luck on a 6 month old schedule and figuring out what to feed him.

I give my son the meat and veggie mixes....to him they taste a lot better than meat by itself.  I also warm up his food in the microwave for about 20 seconds and it eats it much better for me.

I'm a firm beliver that every child is different for instance my son is kind of a giant! lol  He packs away the food.  He was on the first foods and then I started him on the seconds at seven months he didn't really need any persuasion or help in the transition because we don't have a problem getting him to eat anything.  He eats a morning beechnut jar of food along with a fruit.  For dinner he eats 1/2 a night time beechnut jar of baby food, half a jar of fruit, and half a jar of root veggies with a bottle chaser.  Like I said he's a big boy! lol Good Luck with the transition and setting a 6 month old schedule.
