I agree with Ashleigh, Emily & Krista - why do you want to give your baby juice? Much better to stick with water & milk.
I believe adding fruit juice to cereal can be good as it helps with iron absorption but I wouldn't start just giving fruit juice as an actual drink - no need.

My baby was having hard stools alot and his ped. said he was allowed 1 oz of juice for each month old he was ( he was 3 months so he's allowed 3 oz. a day! ) He loves it! If ped . saya its ok and he likes it...I say why not. I use Gerber juices. Started with apple. Just be sure to use same flavor for about a week or so to make sure they are not allergic, just like with their food.

I started giving both my kids juice when they were 6 months. I mixed 2 ounces of juice and 4 ounces of water. It's best to start with apple juice because it's not as harsh as a lot of juices. I used the Gerber juice. It has to be your choice. If you think baby is ready then try it.

I read that 6 months is okay, but I agree that it's not necessary and is a bad habit to start. I did give my six month old a little bit of pure apple juice mixed with water in his sippy cup (about an ounce of juice with 4 ounces of water) to see if the flavor would get him to drink out of it, as he's not really interested in cups. He hated the taste, and still doesn't really like his cup, so no juice for him, and we'll just keep trying with water in the cup!

Why do you want to give him juice? There's really no need. And I would personally say 12 months at the earliest.

I don't really know why parents would even give their children juice. It's not necessary, and it fills them up with sugars, when they could be filling up on wholesome veggies and fruits etc. Why do you want to give your child juice? Just curious.
