I have been wonderng the same thing. I have a 9 week old that usually only wakes up at most once a night and will eat and go back to sleep. I have been trying to decide when to put him in a crib. (he is currently in a bassinet).
Will it make it more difficult to try it one or two nights and if he wakes up alot then bring him back to the bassinet , or do you have to go all or nothing?

we had our little boy in the crib as soon as we brought him home. we keep him in our room mostly during naps in daytime, and at night we have him in his crib. we use the bed sleeper when he had a cold last week but thats about it!

My son slept in my room in his pack and play till he was 5 1/2 months old. We moved him to his own room and crib then cause we finished his room finally! He still didn't sleep through the night till he was 7 1/2 months old but we all slept a little better, not waking each other up all the time. I would love to co-sleep but my husband is a thrasher. Guess you don't really have that option with three!

I had my daughter in her crib since i brought her home from the hospital, if you have your babies sleep in their cribs from day one your more likely not to have problems with them wanted to sleep with you when you are older, i have been taking child development classes and they did a study on it and babies that slept in their cribs from day one had no issues with sleeping with parents when older, but babies who slept in their parents rooms or beds had issues with wanting to always sleep with them in their beds

My daughter moved to the crib at five months old. At first she was in a bassinet, then a pack-n-play. It just got too small for her.

Of course, I should note that we had a bad ice storm hit (I'm in AR) so kept him with us (in our bed, not the pack-n-play) for a few nights, in case we lost power. That way I was certain he would be cuddly and warm. He slept better in our bed than he did in the pack-n-play too, but that at least isn't surprising. =)

My son is 1 month old as of yesterday. We have a pack-n-play and he originally slept in that (which we kept in our room), not quite the full first week at home. We quickly found he slept better (longer, deeper) in his crib. The pack-n-play is a bit too cushy I think for him. So he's been in his crib for the majority of the time; 3 weeks now or so.

my son has been sleeping in his crib since he came home rom the hospital we just didnt have enough room for a bassinet and honestly it was better that way i didnt want the hassle of him getting used to anything else and trying to break him of a habit once he was a little older.

My daughter started sleeping in her crib at 12 weeks and loves it. We tried it with nothing but the sheet, but she somehow managed to twist herself into the bars and hurt her head, so we use the bumpers. I know bumpers are a controversial issue and not your question, but I just wanted to add my perspective. You have to do what works for you. I'd suggest putting your kids in the cribs for naps for a while to ease the transition. I put my daughter in there at 12 weeks to see what she thought about it and she fell right asleep and slept 4 hours, that's how I knew she was ready to sleep in there! =) You'll know when it's time. My guess is if you're asking, you already know it's almost time to move them. :) Congratulations on your new wonderful, crazy life!

Hi Kathleen,
When I first brought my little guy home from the hospital, he slept in a pack n play as well. At about 6 weeks, I moved him to his crib during the night. Being a first time mommy I was nervous, but he actually sleeps better in his crib! He is now 3.5 months old and sleeps through the night, and has been doing so for some time now. Hope this helps!

My daughter is 3 yrs old, and my son is going to be 6 months old on the 10th. Both kids have been sleeping in their cribs right out of the hospital. As long as you have baby monitors, and their crib has nothing in it but a bedsheet on it, then it's completely safe, and you'll have no bedtime issues later on.
my method was an empty crib with nothing but a bedsheet (not even blankets, or bumper pads!) on their backs. When they are old enough to lift their own heads for longer periods of time, then I added their comforts (their teddies). Nothing large... something small and that wont smother them if they roll around/over. Also, in my opinion, bumper pads are more dangerous than they are safe. Babies can get their arms, legs, or heads caught in them.. even if you think it's fitted in tightly! they find a way ~ newborns can't roll over anyway, so you don't need to worry about them whacking their heads on the bars.

My daughter, who will be a month old on Tuesday, sleeps in a bassinet during the day and at night sleeps in her crib. We keep the bassinet downstairs so we dont have to constantly go up and down the steps when she falls asleep during the day. At night her room is right next to ours and we have a monitor right next to our bed for when she wakes up. Good luck with your triplets!

My duaghter is now 4 months and a few weeks and i have recently started to put her to sleep in her crib, iv made a point to her not to have any toys (maybe her bear) in her crib so shes learnign her crib in for sleeping not playing, she was outgrowing her bassinettand becoming uncomfy, we have to spend a little exta time in her room so she new the difference but she seems to be doing better this week then last week! but i must say next child im thinking of skipping the bassinett !!!

Congratulations! You are one busy Mama! We put our son in his crib for naps almost immediately to help him get used to it, but did not put him in it for nights until he was about 4 mos old. You have to follow YOUR gut and heart on this issue it is very personal to your family. You may want to try sooner so you can get more sleep at night with 3 babies. When do you sleep??
Good luck to you.

Congrats on your beautiful triplets! My son born on Oct 8th starting sleeping in his crib at about 9-10 weeks. I had a hard time with it as he is my first! He was sick over the Xmas holidays and we had backtracked to co sleeping for a couple weeks when he had bronchitis. We are back to having him in his crib at night until his am feed( about 5-7am ish) then he comes back to bed with me until I get up.

Wow triplets!!! Congrats!!! I thought one was tough, kudos to you! My daughter started sleeping in her crib at 6 weeks...we still co sleep some nights but mostly she sleeps in her crib. I started off with nap times in her crib then moved her to sleeping in her crib at night but she seems fine with it...but her crib is still in her room so she knows I am close by...

My daughter is 2 1/2 months old. She is in the 90% in height so soon she will be too big for her bassinet at which time I'll put her in her crib. I'm thinking she'll outgrow the bassinet in another month or so.

Your babies are so cute!
My son is going to be three months on the 9th...we've had him in a crib since we took him home from the hospital. We live in a small apartment and I thought I'd skip over having a bassinet since he wouldn't use it for long. He's never had a problem sleeping in the crib, and loves to stretch out!
