My son is 7 weeks old and still gets up once maybe twice a night to eat, I am going back after the 4th of July and I am hoping we are not far off from sleeping through the night by then.

well my first slept through at 9 months and my second still wakes up every couple nights at 11.5 months

there is no magic age. they will sleep when they are ready and nothing you do can make them sleep longer.

CIO is dangerous, especially for babies under 6 months who need to wake to feed every 3-5 hours.

some moms put rice ceral in the bottle which is a choking hazard and just fills them up with crap leaving no roon for what baby really needs which is formula.(rice cereal has little nutritional value) best sugestion is a good solid routine. make night feedings as brief as possible and dont turn on his bedroom light when you tend to him at night.

If you see this, leave this form field blank.

All three of my boys slept from 7pm to 7am from around 4wks. My daughter was doing 7pm to 4am up until 8wks then she was sleeping through till 7am with her brother (I have 3mth old twins). We got them into a routine from day one, at 7pm we would bath them and then give them a bottle and put them to bed, I think every child is different but having a good routine helps.

I breastfed our son and we had a routine going from the first couple of weeks but he didnt sleep all night consistently until he was about 15 months old. I think it depends on the child, as a friend of mine also breasfed and her children slept all night from 6 weeks and 13 weeks...

My daughter is 2 months and has just started sleeping through the night, she is usually in bed by 10pm and sleeps til about 6am. She loves to take a bath or shaower right before bed too, it seems to relax her and she goes right to sleep. She also loves lullaby music, we turn her music on for her and she calms right down too. So you may just have to try diferent things, but if baby is only getting up once a night then you are doing GREAT!!!!

From about 3 weeks my son was only waking up usually once or twice a night to feed, and he started sleeping through at about 4 1/2-5 months old......i don't really remember when exactually.....i think for a baby sleeping through is considered 4-6 hours if i remember right thats what i was told by the doctor, but now my son sleeps from about 8pm till anywhere from 7-9am....just depends......good luck

My little girl started sleeping thru from day 1! Got a right telling off from the midwife. I still got up to give her a feed tho incase she was hungry! I just bathed her, gave her a bottle and put her to bed and she loved it. Every baby is different tho so he'll get himself into it :) x

haha gotta love those midwives. honestly its perfectly fine for them to sleep thru from day 1 as long as they make up feeds during the day and are still gaining weight. they will usually let you know if they are hungry. no need to wake them :)

a new borns tummy is about the size of a golf or tennis ball and needs to be filled frequently. You should never let a new born go more than 5 hours at the most during the night without a feed and should feed every 3 hours during the day. this is not a suggestion this is a fact.

your opinion. i have a nurse friend and when we went out with their baby grand daughter the parents were worried about her sleeping thru the night. i told them mine slept 10-11 hours and the nurse said she has enough weight on her its just fine you dont need to wake them up. your stating your opinion perhaps because you have a FTT baby? anyway doesnt matter as long as the baby is drinking during the day is does not matter when they get the feeds if they were hungry they would cry.

Up until 11 weeks old i was "dreamfeeding" my son (late night feed before i went to bed about 10.30pm) which kept him satisfied till 7am, if he was to awake though i would have just fed him another bottle. At 11 weeks old he started rejecting the dreamfeed and slept straight through till 7am, he has done this ever since and is now 9 months old.

My girl is 10 and a half weeks, and just last night slept a full 5 hours. Up until now it was 2 or 3 at a time, then up wanting to eat. So I am sooooooo excited I got 5 hours straight last night, but look forward to longer nights as well!

Both mine stared sleeping through about 10 to 12 hours at 9 weeks (son) and 11 weeks (daughter). Both of them only ever got up once a night, between 4 and 5am, from the day we brought them home from the hospital. I started a feeding routine from day one and fed them a little more for their last bottle at night. It worked well and both baby and mommy got a good nights sleep!!!

my daughter started at 2 months but what i did was try to feed her a little more at bedtime then i did during the day. i also made the bottle a little warmer and that seemed to work... i also give her a bath with the huggie and johnsons bed time bath stuff.

hi, my son is 8 weeks and still gets up once or twice during the night. i start work back next week and as great as it would be for him to start sleeping through the night right now, i don't think that's going to happen. that's just still too young for them to sleep the whole night through. although like everyone said, every baby is different! hopefully it will happen for us both soon :)

Hey Brandy, it just depends on the child I think. My daughter started sleeping through the night at about 6 weeks (but she was up at 5AM to eat). She was formula fed from day 4.

My daughter is 8 months and still gets up once a night to eat. At 7 weeks I'm not sure you can expect him to sleep for more than 5 or 6 hours at a time. I agree with Sarah, a routine will help. But, I think you're doing good to have him only getting up once or twice a night to be honest! :)

my son was 6 weeks old when he first slept through. although by slept through i mean 11 til 5. he is now 4 and a half months and sleep from 9ish til 8ish. a friend of mine has a 5 month old son who still gets up twice a night for feeds. i always have a routine with my son, play, bath, story and bottle. if i mess with the routine ie no bath, he wont settle. hope your little boy sleeps through soon!!!!

you could try sleep training. mine was formula fed from 2 weeks and always wanted to sleep through the night. 10-11 hours i was not tired at all i was getting sleep ins every day, until i started having to wake her for feeds which i did til she was 10 months

Hi Brandy. i think it all depends on the child really, both my girls were bottle fed. My eldest didn't sleep through until gone 6 months, my youngest slept through from 3 weeks!

Try getting a good bedtime routine set up. Bath, story, milk, bed, or however you want to do it and stick with it.

7 weeks is still very little tho, so i'd imagine you'll have few more sleepless nights to come!

Good luck! :)
