at what age do babies start to burp without you having to do the pat on back and all the tricky ways to get burps out? my little guy is so stubborn with them that it's a full body workout to get his burps out of him lol...

I stopped around 5 or 6 months - but yeah - it depends on the child. Once you realize that you forgot to burp him/her and yet they were fine - I guees thats when you can stop!! Good luck!

i stopped burping my son when he was about 4 months. i noticed he was burping on his own so i did not think me having to burp him was needed. had no problems when i stopped either.

I noticed my baby started burping on his own around 6 months. I would carry him for a bit and he burped on his own. Before that I had a hard time getting him to burp any time he fell asleep at the end of a feeding.

i agree with erin, setting them on the knee and rubbing is the best way and i have 4, but my first it was holding him with his back to my chest and scrunching his knees to his chest and bouncing a little... good luck

With my second son, the trick that I found that worked the best was to get him "sitting" on my knee, with one hand supporting his belly/chest, while I bounced my knee and rubbed (not patted) his back. Now that he's older, I still find that if he's fussy, rubbing his back will usually bring out a burp and he settles down.

At around 3 months I think ... we had alot of trouble with wind, but we started using a mixture from the chemist to help bring up wind, and since then she has really been doing it on her own, although sometimes she still needs a little pat on the back when she is having trouble herself

depends on the child i think. I discovered quite early on that if my daughter didnt burp when i sat her up she wasnt going to id given up before she was 2 months because she would do it herself. And she was a happy content very alert baby
