Around 4 months is when you generally start giving baby rice cereal ( very thin at first - more like "thick"milk ). After about a month you can introduce other cereals or jar foods. Make sure to only introduce one new food at a time, and to wait a whole week before introducing a new food. Jar foods should be a vegetable or a fruit until 6 - 7 months of age, then meats are okay to try. Most doctors say to start your baby on vegetables first so they don't get too attached to the sweeter flavors of the fruits and refuse the vegetables. Good luck!

I started my son on cereal when he was 3mths old (he was a hungry baby). I start fruit and veggies at 4mths.When he was 6mths he was eating homemade food, basically what I was cooking. Just try your baby when they start showing interest in food or if you notice that they are still looking for milk after a feed. Go with the flow and take a very relaxed approach to it. Good Luck

My son is just 3 months old. He just started on veggies and fruits. Stage 1 foods. He's been doing okay. He has no reaction. I even let him get a taste of some things i eat. He is an advanced child to be only 3 months. He's sitting up, trying to talk at you, crawling, and the funniest trying to teeth. He puts his hold hand in his mouth and be choking. So he is moving fast. So it basically depends on how fast the baby is developing.

our pediatrician told us anytime after 4 months that you could try foods. I started my son at 4 months on friuts and moved to veggies about a month later. Just try and wait three days before trying a new food so if there is a reaction you know what it is.

Wait until *at least* six months (according to both the AAP and WHO). We waited 10.5 months. Breastfed babies don't need anything but breastmilk for about the first year of life. When you do start, try pureed veggies, one at a time. Once you introduce one wait a few days before introducing the next so that you make sure your baby has no allergic reactions.

I started my son at about 4 1/2 months. I started with some cereal for about a week, then i went to veggies. I gave him the same one for about 3 days then switched. Around 5 1/2 months i started fruits and did it the same way. After than i just mixed them up each day...ex. a fruit for lunch, and veggie for dinner. I had him at stage 3 foods around 7 1/2 months. Now he is 11 months and eats everything!!!

around 6 months, once you start noticing your baby becoming interested in what you're eating then start thinking about introducing foods to them.. its recomended to start with rice cereal then move on to other solid foods, introducing only one food at a time.. ie: beans for a week then introduce carrots the next. this way if your child reacts to a food you'll know which food it is they had a reaction to. for more information check with your local health unit. for london ontario check www.healthunit.com look under nutrition i think there is a section on baby foods and so forth..
