How old should they be? How much should you give them? and should you put it in the bottle? or wait till they are old enough to sit up and eat it with a spoon?

My son is 3 months old.

i started my son on rice cereal when he was a month old. He can hold up his head and he moves into the spoon. i started out because i just could not keep him full! start out with 1 teaspoon just to see how he'll do.If he starts spitting it out and using his toung he is not ready. you may have to work at it. But i would talk to your doctor abuot it.

I gave my son cereal around 5 months old. I started with rice cereal and eventually went to oatmeal. I did not put the cereal in the bottle. I fed him with a spoon.

6 months usually and no, I wouldn't put it in the bottle. That is from the 60's-70's and not recommended anymore. I would check with your doctor, but usually their digestive systems aren't developed before 5/6 months to handle solid's, depending on the size of the baby. It worked for my son anyway...start slowly because it takes time to get used to it and will likely spit it out at first until he/she is ready. Some people recommend starting with pureed veggies instead of cereal now and to introduce cereal with gluten slowly.

First I would talk with your doc. He would be the best person knowing your child. Most doctors will say between 4-6 months depending on the child. Always feed cereal by spoon. If they can't eat it by spoon then they are not developmentally ready for cereal. Most of the time you start out with 1 tablespoon and then as they get older add more. But first talk with your doc. There are some do's and don'ts that you need to know and your doctor is the best person to let you know what is best for the health of your child.
