My son's doctor told me to start my 6mth old on sippy and its easier to get him off the bottle at this age...so i give him his sippy with formula in it like they told me to and he hasnt had a bottle for 5 days!!

i started with the sippy cup the second that my daughter started holding her bottle. i want her to be off the bottle around a year old, earlier if i can manage it. she like the sippy cup, but at the same time she thinks its a toy. whenever you choose to start, start with the soft tipped one so they can figure it out, and then gradually move up to the hard tipped ones if you want...

With both of my kids between 5 and 6 months and I only put their formula in it as I don't give my kids juice.

My son is 9 months old, I first introduced his sippy cup when he was 6 months just using water or juice in it so he could get used to it, now i put his formula in it as well but he still uses bottles occasionally. I'm am just gradually using the cup more and the bottles less. He is doing really well with it! Just get one that is spill proof. I plan on going straight to sippy cup at 1 year and dropping the bottles all together.
