When to start pulling down skin, of uncircumsized penis?

Hi, my son is almost 7 months old, and my hubby keeps telling me I should be pulling down the skin of his penis a little each time I bathe him, but I've read that you not supposed to start doing that untill he is older (about a year), but I dont want to wait too long or I think it will stick together...please any advice???

here is what our pediatrician told us:

the foreskin should not be pulled back until he is 5 or 6 years old. the foreskin is naturally adhered to the head of the penis and doesn't separate until 5 or 6 years old. pulling it back before then can cause damage and infection.

the foreskin of a baby is self cleaning, just like vaginas and our eyes. until a boy hits puberty, nothing extra should be done to it. being submerged in the bath is sufficient.

what are you guys talking about... our pediatrician has instructed us to slowly pull the skin back since three months old... My mother said that when my brother was born she had no idea she had to do it regularly and slowly, and then when by brother was about a year or two the doctor had to pull it back abruptly or even cut the tip a bit so it opens up... which obviously was painful for the kid., but it had to be done.

I've read on many sites that you're NOT supposed to pull it until 3-4 years old or older...but i'm so confused, when even our pediatrician told us to start doing it slowly at 3 months. I live in Miami, and see a good pediatrician, not some random unknown person, so I really don't know what to think anymore.

That's really great to know, thankyou for all the responses. I've been wondering and arguing about this with my husband about this. Now it's trying to convince him not to touch it... for some reason he dosen't want to listen to the doctors here (he is from mexico) and it is very frustrating because I have to go and research everything, and even then the information is all over the place...nothing concrete. anyways this helps, thanks ladies!

Never! He'll naturally do it himself when it detaches. Then you can teach him how to clean himself.

It is alreay attached and needs to separate naturally before you pull it down like Jennifer said. Don't pull it down it could dbleed and get infected just wash the outside well and it will be clean.
