My son is 10 1/2 months and not the best eater. We just went to the doctor's for a weight check. At this visit the doctor told me to stop feeding him baby food, get rid of the spoon, he said. I have tried this a little but he really doesn't like to eat. I'm afraid he's going to start losing weight!! Please help.

my son loves animal crackers, jumbo rice krispies, mandarin oranges, very sharp cheddar , and we always are introducing new flavors to him!

My son is about the same age, and he is losing interest in baby food. He likes things with more flavor. So when i make dinner i make a small portion for him and he loves it. You could try things like chicken noodle soup, or any type of pasta. He likes scrambled eggs with cheese. Crackers, breads, and cookies. He likes steamed peas and greenbeans, bananas, and mashed potatoes. He loves puffed cheetos :) try anything he can eat with his fingers but of course you need to feed him too. My son can not use a spoon by himself yet. He will when he is ready. I hope this helps you!

My son is 6 1/2 mo old, and the only baby food he gets is cereal for the grains and Fruit only because it is cheaper than buying fresh fruit. I started him on plain mashed up food when he was about 3 mo old and around 4 1/2 mo we started giving him bigger chunks of food, as he was already "chewing". Now he is feeding himself (gumming- teeth are coming) chunks/ sticks of food... like carrots, green beans, melons, bread, chicken- we feed him stuff like pees, pasta, eggs, and other foods that are still hard for him to pick up (oh yeah we also feed him the cereal and baby food fruit). The Dr. said every thing we are doing is great- he can do it and he is growing healthily!
Friends of ours has a 2 year old who eats very little and is not gaining weight (at 6 mo, our little guy is about her weight at 2 years). They have seen a specialist/ nutritionist to help ease their mind... Dr. said, all they can do is feed her what she likes (Fruit, fruit, and more fruit) and whatever else they can get her to eat... she is still healthy, just doesn't weigh much.

YOU ARE MOM. If you don't want to stop, then don't. Just introduce lots of new foods, and eventually he will end up eating something! They won't let themselves starve. - Honestly, I always have baby food in the house for one of 'those days' when nothing else will be consumed because baby food is better than NOTHING! Just my opinion, but I am sure someone will have a problem with it. - You are your child's first doctor, and if you don't want to listen to the doctor, then don't. You know what is best.

Considering you never have to START baby food....
At 10 1/2 months your son is perfectly fine to have baby-safe table food. Try scrambled eggs, avocado slices, a whole peeled apple, pasta, a chicken drumstick with bits of meat on it, etc.
