Which birth control causes the least amount of weight gain?

In the past two years, I have had my daughter and son back to back. I gained 70lbs with daughter. Prior to pregnancy, I was 150lbs when I went into labor I was 232lbs. With my son, I gained only 26lbs. My pre-pregnancy weight was 175lbs when I gave birth to him I was 209 minus his eight pounds. It's been six weeks and I am scheduled for my postpartum visit tomorrow and I don't want to end up on a birth control that causes serious weight gain, I feel tubby enough already. I was thinking of Mirena because I am breastfeeding and my son will only drink breast milk. I can't be on anything that will diminish my milk supply. What do you ladies think?

if you don't want to worry about a birth control method that will absolutely not cause you to gain weight, get a copper iud. there are no hormones whatsoever and can last up to 10 years.

The mini-pill is safe while breastfeeding and it shouldn't cause weight gain. I've always been on it when nursing.

I'll add though, I never lost all of my pregnancy weight until I completely weaned my children.

I have a friend on the mini pill because it is safe for breastfeeding. I used ortho tri cyclen lo and gained about 10 pounds on it but had no other side effects. All birth control really depends on how your body processes it. I have only been on one type but what I was on causes many other women to have a lot of side effects. I would opt for the mini pill or tell your partner to do the birth control duty and wear a condom. My husband and I used was VCF(vaginal contraceptive film) and that worked for us. Just put it in 15minutes before sex and you don't have to worry about it and it isn't messy. No side effects unless you are allergic to spermicide.

It all depends on if you want future children. I was terrible on BC, so I had to get off of it many years ago. I would recommend just using condoms, or if you are finished having kids get a tubal ligation or have the vasectomy for the significant other.

I think it would depend on you and how your body processes contraception.

Please think seriously about the Marina, it can have some pretty yucky side effects, google 'side effects of the Marina' and arm yourself with knowledge before getting that.

How about the mini pill? That's safe to use while breastfeeding.
