Who was bigger?

I know they say there is a correlation between your health during pregnancy and the weight of your baby and also genetics play a huge factor. But I was wondering how many people had bigger babies second and third time around then their first? My first son was born 5 weeks early weighing 6 lbs 3 oz (if you're doing the math, yeah I know...) and my second son was born 38 weeks 9 lbs. My daughter was born 10 weeks early so I can't really add her to the equation, but I was just wondering everyone else's situation.

With my first (boy) I was induced/c-section at 38 weeks & he was 8lbs14oz - i thought i was huge then.. but along came my daughter, born by c-section at 37 weeks and 9lbs! Both pregnancies were not the greatest (swelling, bleeding, etc etc) but i, myself, was pretty healthy throughout.

My third baby was 10lbs 14ozs at 40wks + 11days and I was induced. I gained about the same amount of weight with all of them. We want another one and I am wondering how big it will be!

My first .boy, (now 19 years old) was 7 pound 6, He was 5 days early....I gained 31 kilo's in this pregnancy. I was 21 years old
My second..girl.. (now 4 years old) was 8 pound 6..
She was born on her due date.
I gained 20 kilos in that pregnancy. I was 36 years old
My third .girl. (now 2 years old) was 8 pound 1.
She also was born on her due date.
I gained 16 kilos in this pregnancy. I was 38 years old
My 3 children also have the same father.
But yes my first was my smallest, but also my mega hardest to deliver. My third was my easiest. (she was nearly born with my tracksuit pants on her head) LOL

My 1st was 3 weeks and a day early, a daughter at 7 lbs 8 oz and my 2nd, a boy 4 years later was born almost 4 weeks early at 9 LBS 4.5 OZ, lol, so yes my 2nd was bigger, delivering doctor thought my dates were wrong, when he realized my son was a preemie he said that i can't go full term, he would have been around 12 lbs had i gone all the way, lol!

My daughter was full term 7lbs 3oz. My son was a week early, 8lbs 3oz. I attribute this to the gender difference(I'm fairly petite at 5'3" and my husband has a large football player type build and is 6'1"). I am currently pregnant again but we don't even know what we're having yet so I'm curious as to how big this baby will be. I have heard that babies tend to get larger the more you have, because your body stretches out easier and gives them more room to grow.

my first was 7lbs 11oz, second 7lbs and 4oz, third 8lbs 12oz, fourth 9lbs.
my last two were induced ten days past due, and with my first two i walked everywhere because i had no car. i think the biggest factor for me was diet and exercise.

I haven't had a second baby yet but my first was 10 lbs 2 oz . I would completely agree with it being to blame on your lifestyle and hereditary. My husband was off just an ounce from my son's birth weight, however in my case I don't blame genes on my son's large birth weight because I had been very sedentary while pregnant with him. It was winter, I was living in a crummy house with an awful/lazy landlord, it was an unexpected pregnancy, and to top things off there was no way anyone was hiring me. Oh, and I can't forget about the most dreadful outburst of PUPPP's I had gotten towards the end of my pregnancy with NO relief! Let me just say I was MISERABLE being pregnant. I really do believe that had my lifestyle been completely different my son would not have been that big and I wouldn't have gained the 60 lbs I did. Guess I'll let you know how my second baby turns out since I don't plan to have the same lifestyle in any way=) And I'm hoping for my sake my babies don't get bigger as the number goes up:|...

My first girl was close to 9 pounds at birth and my baby weighed only 6 pounds at birth. Both were life threatening pregnancies. Not sure why the difference in weight....but that's how goes. Both were induced around the due date. (Close to 40 weeks - LMP date)

My son was born at 37-38 weeks ( depending on which due date. I had two ) my son was 7lbs 7oz. When he left the hospital he was 7lbs 4oz. I was diagnosed with Pre-Eclampsia at 32 weeks.

My BIL ( Brother in law ) was almost 12lbs at birth. Yes 12lbs and was almost 3 weeks late.

i was 5 days over with both my girls, my first weighed 7lb 7, and my second weighed 7lb 9, so although a slight difference it wasn't noticable, but they were born at exactly the same gestation x

first son: 8lbs 3oz 20 1/2 inches (10days early)
sec. son: 9lbs 4oz 22 1/2 inches (3 days late)
third son: 8lbs 9oz 21 1/2 inches (6 days late)
So they can get smaller. I was sick all 9 months with all of my boys to the point i lost between 30-50 pounds with each one. It had no affect on their size!!!

Both of my children i was induced for at 41.5 weeks. With both of them I wound up having to get a c-section.
My son, my first, was 7lbs12oz and 21 inches
My daughter was 7lbs11oz and 20 inches.

ok this isn't my own equation its my mums but it gives you an idea of how different babies are.

my big sister weighed 6lb 15oz, i was 6lb 7oz, my other sister 7lb 6oz, brother 7lb 11oz, and twin boy and girl 5lb 15oz (b) and 5lb 3oz (g)

so as you can see her youngest baby was actually the smallest (well i was the smallest lone baby)

and my little boy was bigger than all of my mum's at 7lb 13oz!!

My 1st was 9lb and 12 oz and a year latter my 2nd was 10lb 4oz. I carried to full term with both. So I think that they get bigger each time.

Tabitha I disagree w/the age contributing to birth weight. I was 16 when I gave birth to my daughter, she was one day over due and weighed 9lbs 13.5oz! She is now 4 1/2 yrs old and is 60lbs and almost 4 ft tall!
I just had my son at 20, I was induced w/him on what was supposed to be my due date, but the nurse said he looked 41 weeks PLUS due to his flaky skin etc. He was only 8lbs 12.5oz, but I believe me smoking VERY RARELY, but still it was smoking and I shouldn't have done it, but I believe that is what made him 1lb and 1 oz smaller than his sister. He is now 11 weeks old and about 17lbs and 23ish in long.
I do believe it is genetics. My mom smoked during both her pregnancy w/me and my brother, I was just under 8lbs and my brother was 8lbs something. She was 18 when she had me and about 26 when she had my brother.
I was however expecting an at least 10 lbs baby when I had my son. My fiance was 8lbs 9oz and he was 6 weeks early! My fiance is not 6'2". So I don't really know how it works or what it is based off of. I just know big babies run in my side of the family.. well my mom was adopted so thats as far as I know. lol.

Well at my 1st pregnancy, my daughter weighed 5Ib.14oz, and i actually added so much weight, but from the way things are now and from my last scan, this current baby that am expecting is likely to weigh far much more than my daughter. though in this pregnancy, am havent really added as much as i added at the time i was pregnant of my daughter. so it all depends on genetic compositions.

Unless there was a medical difference, your babies do become bigger each pregnancy. Your body just gets better at its job each time! I only have one kid (so far) but I was 8lb 3oz at birth and then my brother was 10lb 4oz! I think my Mum stopped at him because she was afraid at how big the next could be! :)

I gained the most with my first pregnancy and had the smallest baby. With my first one, I gained 55 pounds and my baby was 6 lb. 12oz. With my second one, I gained 48 pounds and my baby was 7 lb. 4 oz. With my third one, I gained 47 pounds and my baby was 6 lb. 13 oz. With my fourth one I gained 45 pounds and my baby was 7 lb. 6 oz. So the pregnancy I gained the most I had the smallest baby and the pregnancy I gained the least I had the biggest baby.

I do wonder if genetics plays a part. My first child weighed exactly the same as I did at birth.

My daughter(now 9) was born full term through induction and she weighed 5pds 3oz, perfectly healthy. Though i was 16 at the time and age does contribute to birth weight. My son now 1 was born 7pds 6oz, so quite a bit bigger. I really don't think genetics play much of a factor in birth weight. I think it depends on your health and lifestyle during the pregnancy!
