Hi Sandy,
My husband and I were stationed at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage for 3 years. We loved it there and would be willing to go back in a few years. The people are really nice and became our second family!

Hi Sandy,
Thanks for hosting the group. I wish I had know about this before. My son Ryan is 24 and is stationed at Eglin Air Force Base in Ft. Walton Beach, FL He just came home from Kuwait the week of Christmas. He has been in the Air Force for 5 1/2 years now. He is in Security Forces and mans the dispatch desk at Eglin. I flew down to surprise him when he came home from his deployment. It was great for both of us. As more of our guys prepare to go to Afghanistan (per Obama) I will keep them in my prayers.

Hi Sandy! I am Beth and my son, Jacob, has been in almost a year now. I am so lucky because he is stationed at Tinker in OKC which is just 3 1/2 hours from our home. I have been able to see him about every 2-3 weeks since July. He insists I bribed some higher up to get him stationed here...he wanted Japan....LOL! Though I didn't get to spend Christmas with him, he was in Anchorage with his Dad and his side of the family.
Will be keeping all our loved ones in my prayers!

Hello, Just joined the group. My son is a Sr. in high school and joined the AF his Jr year. It's been very emotional getting ready for the holiday season. I what to make this Christmas special, since it will be our last family one for awhile. My husband just goes with the flow but I'm a wreck! It's going to be so hard to let go, but we are very proud of him. He leaves July 20 for basic training. How do you prepare?

Hi Sandy! Thank you for hosting this site. My son Josh, is stationed at Langley AFB, VA. We were just out to see him last month and who knows when the next time will be. This will our first Christmas season without him...ever..in 24 years. My husband and I live in Oregon so that's about as far from Virginia as you can get...except Alaska of course! Our youngest is in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska so I know how distant that is for you...feels like another planet. I will keep Jeremy in my prayers.

Hiya Sandy... I'm Bonnie and my son is currently finishing a lengthy tech school at Keesler in Mississippi. He will be going to Aviano, Italy in January but I cannot WAIT to see him!!!! In addition to my Airman (age 20), my husband and I have four other kids (25, almost 23, 8 and 3). Hubby is a teacher, I'm a criminal defense lawyer. I am also a knitter, crocheter and scrapbook/card maker. I volunteer a lot so I don't post on a lot of message boards, but I am on facebook a lot -- usually, playing a game while the youngest is doing something or while on the phone with clients to try NOT to yell at them.

Hugs and blessings to all !
