Deployments

Hey everyone.. pretty new here :]
I havent seen my husband since april 2011. We been visiting Family in Germany when they told him he has to leave for a 2 Month TDY before a 6 months deployment in August.. well he went back home to Hill AFB, he havent saw us ever since i will see him for about a week in July before he heads to afg... i can deal with it since this isnt out first Deployment but i feel bad for him and our son. By time he gets back he wont see him for almost 11 months..

Joy of being in the Military i guess? And i agree with you tiffany first couple of months are the worst! And in the End time seems to stop!
Hope to find some mommas here who will go through a deployment as me..

Just a suggestion from my experience, my husband just left at the end of January, before he left we rented some books from the library to read to my two boys (2 1/2 & 7 yo) my favorite was My Dad's a Hero, it talks about how daddy has to leave for a while to do his job and help other people. We also had Daddy, You're my Hero & A Paper Hug which my boys also liked. On Amazon I've also found a book called Night Catch, which I haven't read yet but looks good.

My husband missed about 5 months of our son's life when he went to basic and tech school but Gale surprised us by remembering his daddy. Tim probably will be deployed for 6 months 2011 so Gale will be old enough to be upset by it. All of you who's husbands and daddies are away are in my prayers.

My husband has deployed twice. Both times for 4 months. This last time was the worse for worrying. He went to Afghanistan and they were bombed about once a week. It was hard. But it helps to stay busy and it will make the time pass a little faster. I went to the gym daily, I tried to do special outings with the girls. I always just tried to be going. It worked out nicely the time went by quickly and he was home before we knew it.

My husband is deploying soon. Dunno when for sure yet, but more than likely won't be back when our baby is due. :( This is his 1st deployment since we've been together. Has deployed a bit b4 we met.

Hi! My husband is deploying next month for the 3rd time. We have a 6 month old so he's still too young to know what's going on. We're at Robins AFB in Warner Robins, GA. He's a pilot so he deploys a lot. Do your husbands deploy a lot?

Thanks Allannis, what is nice about your kids being that young is that they won't rember it. So it is nice for them but it doesn't make it any eaiser on us. I hope you have family around to help you. Last deployment i went home, but i'm not going to this year cause my daughter will be starting preschool. I hope that you some really good firends to help you too. that was a big one for me last time. And i guess i got lucky with my husbands job cause he will only be gone for 6 mounths, that helps. What base are you at. And by the way your baby is so cute.

sonya, no it really doesnt get easier this is only my second deployment but my husbands SF so he is off to training all the time for a few months to a few weeks.mine lives in 3 days :( for the second time and my son is only 7 months so he will miss first time crawling walking talking birth day basicly everything. he will be gone for 9 months :(

My husband is getting ready to in June. This will be his second time gone. My question is does it get any eaiser? My daughter is will be older this time, and i'm not sure how to explain to her where he is going. Also i think this time will be harder cause he wont be albe to call as much.

my husband leaves in 2 weeks to afganistan. this is our second one but first after our son. he is only 7 months and my husbands going to miss crawling, first tooth, first word and walking, and who knows what else.he is going to be gone for 8 months :(
