BORED!!!

I have been with my daughter for 2.5 years now being at home with her is getting boring and I don't even drive I walk or I take the bus/taxi if I have to go anywhere that is far. I know how your feeling though its very boring after awhile and theres only so much cleaning you can do in one day. I wish I knew of other moms that lived nearby so we could all get together and talk about anything and everything; we could build our own little mommy network....

I never really went through that I guess with my first because I was working part-time from home two months after he was born. I have five kids now and work from home in a direct sales company called Scentsy. I don't know if you want something to do, a reason to socialize and make money but Scentsy is top notch and growing tons. We just opened in Canada a year ago. I have always had something else on the side going because it gives me a reason to keep things on track and make money to help out or just have fun and socialize!!

Hi there, my name is Amber and I am a happily married stay at home mom to one three and a half year old boy. I have lived in Calgary for about 14 months now and have not yet found any lasting friendships. I read online about how other mom's take their kids to malls and stores but we don't even get that because we don't have a car. Oh yes, everyone says use transit, use transit. Kind of difficult when you can't afford it, though. We are in this middle range of income where we make too much for assistance but yet cannot afford any extras, like transit or the actual costs of for examlpe the zoo, or swim lessons or play places like Coffee and Scream... We also don't have/watch cable. My son and I spend our days going for walks, playing make believe and baking cookies. I have been trying to find other moms with the same interests, but to no avail. I'm looking for other moms who feel trapped in Alberta, who have no desire for sparkly things, who encourage their children to meditate and do yoga and who get annoyed when people don't know how to play pretend. I'm just a big kid and I love being able to share my life with my son, but it can be loney just the two of us all day, not to mention that my hubby hasn't been able to make many friends here either- but at least he has met some guys through work! Where are us mom's supposed to do that? The only other place I go is the grocery store! We do partake in a free community playgroup here in the north, but it is not nearly as diverse as the one we had attended in the south when we first moved to the city...

Motherhood can be so confining, especially in a new city! I don't live in Calgary, but I can certainly sympathize with you. There are probably playgroups and such that you can take your son to where you can meet other moms and have your son connect with other kids with a change of scenery. Good luck! And hang in there.
