Cloth Diapers, your opinions?

I'm using cloth diapers and trying to find what's going to work best for me and baby. So far I've used Bum genius which I'm not a huge fan of because the entire shell and liner must be washed after each change. I know there are some out there where just the liner must be laundered and replaced. Do you ladies have any opinions on what you like best and what didn't work for you? I'm considering making my own but want to know what some of the pit falls and pros of different diapering systems may be. Any help would be WONDERFUL!!! Thank you!

You could try grobaby diapers... they are brand new and fit you description. I havent tried them but they look great and are a one-size diaper (bonus points)! You just snap in a new liner a few times a day and dont have to launder the whole diaper each time. Check em out at this website ...

I love my prefolds! I use them snappi'd with a bummis super whisper wrap or wool cover. I have a proraps cover too that is super water proof, but I feel like it doesn't breathe well enough so I use it only when I know there is a chance I might not get to change him in a timely fashion.

We use elimination communication, but when we do use diapers we use just regular birdseye flats and plastic pants. They clean quick, dry quick, and are really cheap. But I don't know how super absorbent they are however, because she is never allowed to sit in her pee for more than thirty seconds.

I use MotherEase fitted diapers with separate covers. It is a lot of snaps, but I usually use one cover per day then throw it in the diaper pail and use a new one the next day. They are pretty absorbent and mine have been used on 4 kids now, so they've held up pretty well. The website is

Good Luck!

I am also looking into finding similar diapers, and I found these on Amazon that I am really interested in, but haven't tried yet since I am still pregnant =)

It sounds like you'd really be interested in fitteds with covers, or just putting a prefold or something under a cover for easy changing. Personally, we LOVE all-in-ones. I make my own with a suedecloth inner, PUL outer, and bamboo fleece for the absorbent part. I hated stuffing and unstuffing pocket diapers and DH didn't like snappied prefolds or fitteds because he still had to touch something that was wet (our kids are super soakers, so after one pee everything under the cover was dripping wet).

We're using both fitted with covers and prefolds with covers, I find the prefolts the easiest ones to was and dry, but the fitted ones are easier to put on the baby.

We use wee - ones (Canada) - http://www.weeones.biz/joomla/

and we also use the Bummis super whisper wraps 5 are more than enough for more than a week and I've never had accidents with them where I had to wash baby's clothes...

We tried a lot of things and found that for us, fitteds with wool covers work the best. There are also a lot of good plastic brand covers. My favorite plastic is Bummis Super Whisper Wraps. Either way, as long as the cover is not soiled or wet, you can use it again after you change the diaper.

I used cloth diapers with all 4 of my kids. I really think using flats or prefolds in wraps, like the Bummis or Proraps is the easiest and cheapest way to go. My husband reaches for the organic Bumgenius (this is an all in one, I hate pocket diapers) first, then the prefolds, and I usually go for the flats or prefolds in a wrap first. I like wool wraps best. My baby isn't mobile yet. For older babies, I prefer fitted diapers and pull on wool covers. Fitted diapers are fairly easy to sew. It's cheaper and easier to just buy prefolds already made, though.

I like the idea of my little guys butt breathing so our system is mostly prefolds (secured with snappis) and wool covers. The wool covers are naturally antibacterial so they only need to be washed about once every 2 weeks unless they get poop on them and then I spot clean with olive oil soap. All of the washing is by hand but it really doesn't take that long. My favorite brand for wool covers is lovey bums but we also have a little beetle and a baby beehinds. They all work well (we have 4 covers).
I have also been looking for a good fitted diaper so we will stop having blowouts when other people change my son (prefolds have a learning curve). My favorite fitted is from crickett's diapers. We also have 2 mothers ease and 2 goodmama (so cute but pricey & not the most absorbant). We do have 3 one size pocket diapers from blueberry diapers, these are great when we're out and about and changing our son in the car. My little guy is skinny and off the charts tall so what works for us may not work for you but there is tons of info on diaperswappers.com & reviews on the diaperpin.

I hope you find this info useful!

I used the rubber velcro covers and prefolds for my daughter. That way the diaper had to be laundered but the cover I could use 10x or so before washing it (unless it got poopy or something) Only downfall is the prefolds tend to be a bit bulkier then some other cloth diapers... but I am kinda lazy so I dealt :-)

Thanks for the link! I'm looking for something that doesn't require the whole thing to be laundered after each change. I guess I just don't want to have to have a couple of days worth of outsides on hand. I need something where the outer portion is reusable and only the liner must be tossed into the hamper. Maybe I'm asking too much but if it's out there, I'm sure I'll find it on the link you gave me...thanks again.

I Love cloth diapering. This is my third baby and the only one i've used cd's with and i'm very happy with them. I'm using Bum Genius pocket diapers and I love them. I'm also using Fuzzi Bunz pockets...again, Iove them, but the Bum Genius are easier because of the velcro. FB uses snaps.

If you want info on all types of cd's. go to

Lots of info there

My personal preference is for Pocket fitteds. You can make them as absorbant as you need, but since they come apart they don't take so long to dry, and you can make sure they are good and clean. I use home made.
