lets have some fun with this!

What are some fun names youve named your pets and how/why did you come up with it?

i just recently adopted a cat from the shelter...had the hardestttttt time finding a good name for her until now!! shes finally getting comfortable..her personality has come out! she does these short bursts where she just takes off, full speed, for a few feet then stops! ALL day long! lol i looked up comic book characters online and came up with "aurora" from xmen vol 1 - superhuman speed and reflex abilities!

i have a dauchsund named "heinz" - no explanation neccessary! lol

my pit bull is named "gus" - when he was a baby he really did look like a cow and he was so chubby and doppy looking that i kept saying "gus gus" (cinderella) and the name just stuck!

when i was much younger we had a cat that originally came to us with the name orion. we changed his name bc everytime he would jump off of something and land he would go "bbbeerrrtttt" so his name was changed...to Bert! :)

i look forward to hearing some of these stories!

We have 4 cats.. 5 if you count the outside kitty who has adopted us, lol.
So we have Halebop, she had a marking on her forehead as a kitten that looked like a comet, although we've been calling her Furface for years, lol..
Then we have October who is our crazy Maine Coon/orange tabby mix. We wanted something a bit different and not the classic Pumpkin or Jack for an Orange kitty, and we got him in October, so we went with that!
Then Cavy, our gray almost blue russian looking kitty, when he was a kitten used to make Guinea Pig squeak noises for a meow, and cavy is another name for guinea pig, so we thought that was perfect..
Then we have his sister and she is a feisty little orange kitty, and shes a female, so we named her Ginger..
Then our outside gray tabby and we named him Nimbus.. We call him Nimbus-Ninja Cloud Kitty because he likes to climb trees and is the color of a storm cloud, lol

Now we have 2 dogs a husky/malamute named Bakura from Yugioh and a border collie/cattle dog named Calypso but we call her Callie.

i have a cat named squeaker. His name is that because when he was a baby he squeaked instead of meowed. I have a cat named Zorro because his face looks like he's wearing a mask. I had a cat named stinky for obvious reasons lol

We have had a lot of pets with fun names. Currently we have a pit named Leo, short for Leopluradon (sp) from Charlie the unicorn. We also have a cat named Coffee, she is black, like we like our coffee (and it was something our at the time 2 year old could say). Before that we had a doxie named Kirin, after a boss in FFXI. We also had a cat named Miso who was HUGE. He came from the shelter with the name, but we mostly called him "me-so fat" rather than the soup. Growing up I had a dog named Chinook, after the fish, not the helicopter and now my parents have another dog of the same breed named Coho.

I have owned many dogs, The very first I got when I was just 3, her name was pepe I don't know why or how I came up with that name but mum said I was adament that is what we'd call her , she died when I was 14 or 15. We had many a family dog but my next one to own was my staffordshire bull terrier her name was Sarvannah it was a very beautiful name for a very beautiful dog sadly she was hit by a car when she was 2 years old. The next was Neka another staffy, my parnter at the time was a hunter & he was reading a hunting magazine about seka deer, I didn't want her to be a hunting dog so she became Neka, she lived to be 14 (I had to put her to sleep at the beginning of the year, her ashes sit in a nice sunny spot in my lounge), While Neka was about 4 years old I decided she needed a play mate I got an American staffordshire terrier who goes by the name of Hooch, He kind of choose his name we sat him down & started saying a heap of names he came to Hooch and it suits him to a T!!! with Neka going to doggy heaven Hooch became abit lonely so we adopted a little mix breed dog from the SPCA my daughter came up with the name Nessie (after edward & bellas baby in the twilight series).
Not very exciting names but lovely names.

When we got our cat from a shelter her name was Basil. We dedcided to name her something else. Her name is Blueberry Muffin, but we call her Muffin. She got the name because I would say to my husband "I have a question." and his reply would be "Blueberry". Since our at is a blue point siamese it seemed to fit, but we did not want to call her blueberry so we added muffin.

Well of our current cats we have Cuddy (named after the character Lisa Cuddy from House). Then we have Jasper and Alice, our brother and sister set :) named after our favorite characters from Twilight :). We also have Flash our turtle, hubby named him so I don't know why on that one. We had a dog named Gary, named after Spongebobs pet, and then we had Zuri, our kitty that died, I named her that because it means beautiful, and she was :)

When my husband and I were first married he got me a standard dashund. His registered name was Weinersnitzel Van Cole. But we called him Hot Dog. He was very red with a deep red stripe down his back. When you gave him a bath he would shin like a burnt hot dog. LOL. I now have a mixed breed Papillion named Patch Adams. He only has one eye patch. And he brings us laughter and joy. Hence the name. And I have a little purebreed Papillion. All 5 lbs of him. And his name is Li'l Bitty Bandit. Cause he stole my heart away.

Currently, we have two labs named Marmaduke (aka-Duke) and Jasper. Our cat is Cinnamon- named by my daughter and our bunny is known as Sugar Bunny- named by our other daughter. Lastly, is the senior aussie shepard Roxy. I've decided whenever I get another dog though, i will have to name it Hachi after recently watching the true story movie based on this dog. If you have not seen it yet, it is a moving, tearjerker for animal lovers. Our entire family was teared-up even my normally stoic husband had some tears. Yep, one day I'll call a dog Hachi (: Happy Easter

[deleted account]

I'm only going to to name our current pets...Nikki is a 10 year old golden retriever/ lab mix My BF choose her name because he just liked the name. Bruiser is a 1.5 year old wiener dog, who thinks he's a big dog. Last but not least, we have Fish, who is just that, a female Beta fish.

the first dogs i had i dont know how they were named but they were sisters from the same litter dingo and samantha.

we had probably 13 birds but only 3 i remember the names, a parakeet named Casper (at the time my fav. movie and the bird was white and light blue), and sister love birds named sasha and natasha.

then i had a black lab who my cousin had named popul (idk how it was spelled to be honest.)

i then got a huskie and named him tiger because he was black and white like a white tiger.

then bella she was born with a deformed leg and was a pure breed german shepard but they were going to put he to sleep because she was "usless" so we took her because she was beautiful even with her flaws.

there was a cat we "had" it just came to our house all the time i named jack like nightmare before christmas

and lastly my puggle i have now named mocha which i found out recently was actually the name of his fur color.

I got lots of animals so here we go (I will only talk about the pets I currently have!)!!

1. Killer -- he is a little 8lb rat terrier but he runs the house!! We adopted him 5 yrs ago when he was 5!!

2. Trixie -- she is our beagle / our first dog. We adopted her in PA before we moved here in a farm city. We wanted to name her something country so this is what we cam up with ... haha!

3. Blaze -- our pit bull mix we adopted from the animal control. My husband is a car man and wanted to name her something that had to do with cars. He currently had a Chevy Blazer and she was a bit of a crazy puppy so we thought Blaze was very fitting.

4. Heinz -- we are HUGE steeler fans so when we adopted this guy Heinz was the perfect name because not only is that the stadium's name (plus its for Hines Ward -- but my hubby wanted it spelled the other way) but he is a true heinz 57 mutt!!

5. Lambert --- again we LOVE the steelers so we named this akita mix after jack lambert.

6. Turbo -- again with the car theme -- plus he was a CRAZY kitten getting into everything & running laps around the house.

7. Mr. Benz -- His name started as just Benz -- I had a shih tzu growing up that was my world & her name was Mercedes. So to honor her we named him (a manx cat) Benz. After brining him home we realized that he needed that Mr in front of his name because he walks around like he owns the world!!

I love my fur babies!!! :-)

I have a black cat, whose mother (a friend's cat) was called Morgana, so we called our cat Uther Pendragon. Causes all sorts of fun at the vets, as they don't have enough spaces on their forms. We also have a ginger cat called Red Nicholas (wandered in on Christmas Day eight years ago) and a little fluffy girl (age 12 now) called Moselle because she's so sweet. Our Jack Russell terrier is Samwise Gange, and we have two brown chooks (hens) called Copernicus (copper nickers) and Fluffy Bum (both named by my daughter). You can see we love weird names in this family. LOL :)

We have a West Highland White Terrier (two of them actually). When we got our first one we thought and thought about names - one day as we watched him having his nose to the ground so much of the time we decided to name him Kirby because he looked like a vacuum cleaner.
We got our Siamese cat and spent ages thinking up names for him. My husband, being a big Star Wars fan, said if you pull the cat's ears up and back he looks just like Yoda from Star wars. So, he was named Yoda.

ok this is gonna be long lol. My dog Bear can't remember exactly why we named him that. Buck was already named when we got him. Coco was named by BIL's ex wife and daughters. Baby was named by BIL who lived with us after a cat they owned before. Leo I named from Charmed. Squeaker I named that b.c he squeaked when he was a kitten, Lily just because I thought it was a cute name same with Violet and Zorro because he looked like he had a mask on.
