So I was just talking to a friend and we were talking about our LO's (her son is 12 days older than my daughter and has just gone 7 months, Rayne will be 7 months on the 23rd).
I was like Rayne can say Mum, Mama, Mummy, is starting to say Dad (and something that sounds like bad Dad LOL), Nan, Nanna, Bab (which we think is her trying to say Dad which she sometimes says but more often is Bab instead). Then I went and I reckon that's it. She goes "LOL that's it, she's only 6 months old", I was like oh I didn't even consider if it was early or whatever I just accepted she says those words without questioning it. She's quite advanced for her little self anyways but it's not something I really go WOW everyone look what my LO can do (well not constantly LOL), and I NEVER compare her to other bubba's. if I want to know if what she's doing is early, on track or latish I'll google and pull up a milestone chart to see what the averages are NOT find another kid to compare her too.
Like she can turn the pages of her books, has been able to since like 4 months old, started rolling over (and mastered) back to front at 3 months and 9 days old and had mastered rolling both ways by the end of her third month, started trying to crawl at 4 months old and finally got there at 5 months old (well it's not a proper crawl but what I call a worm crawl), none the less she IS mobile. She has pretty exceptional fine motor skills for her little self has no issue putting her dummy in and out of her mouth or going to get it and putting it in her mouth if she wants it, turning the pages of her books, handling her Rusk (a sort of super hard breadstick for teething), in one hand and switching it from hand to hand etc etc.
And you know what I am a little tired of having to scale back her achievements for those with low self esteem, and those who feel the need to compare their child to mine. WE ALL adult and baby alike do things in our own time so get the fuck over it. When I ask about your child and what they can do it's not because I want to one up you, it's because i'm fucking interested for fucks sake!
Gah!!!
Now for a funny story :D
The other morning she had woken and was quite happily playing in her cot, I think she'd been awake for a little while but kindly allowed me to wake in my own time, so I get up go to the cot get big grins I say to her, I'll be right back I've just gotta go to the loo and start walking out the door, well she started working herself up and YELLS! MAMA! at me, well I just cracked up and so did Peter, I think she thought i was ignoring her and she wasn't going to get fed LOL Funny shit.
So what about your LO's? I'm sure they're all totally gorgeous and all very clever little boys and girls :D I'd like to hear about them.
