Hi Wonderful Moms!

We're rounding up great ideas from moms for birthday celebrations for boys of all ages. How did you celebrate your son's 5th birthday? What was his favorite gift? Have you been to another great 5th birthday party for a boy? What did you find special about it?

Thanks for your responses!

Cheers,

We had a "mario" party! Instead of cake I made cup cakes to look like the green mushrooms and added white choc circles on top so you could tell what it was. We played "Goomba stop" which was brown balloons tied to a string then tied around their ankles. The kids had to run around and stomp the balloons when theirs popped they were out. I made enough so they could play twice. we played bowser bowling. 2 liter bottles and colored mario pictures and taped to the front of the bottles and the ball was a green nerf ball. "yoshi egg smash" I emptied and cleaned out inside of eggs filled with confetti and taped the end to close. I drew a yoshi on poster board and the kids had to throw the egg at yoshi. Kids loved it! confetti went everywhere!! Each game was a level and when completed I yelled "level completed" cup cakes were a level and presents another a total of 5! I drew out decorations and painted mario and luigi on canvas since no one has mario anything at the time. His fav toy? nerf guns!! you know to shoot Mom lol all the kids had a blast! for good sacks? when the kids got there i gave the boys mustaches and the girls got tiaras like princess peach. I used brown paper lunch sacks and drew a ? on it like the game has coins in them. I gave them all bouncy balls mario stickers and a mario marker and candy.

We just had my son's 5th party yesterday! It was lots of fun. We had a gardening party in our backyard. As the kids arrived, they painted terracotta plant pots. Then they played and had lunch while the pots dried. After cupcakes and singing Happy Birthday, each child got to plant their choice of vegetable or flower seed. Two kids were planting at a time and the rest were playing what time is it Mr. Wolf and playing tug-of-war. I found kids gardening gloves at the dollar store so instead of a goody bag, each child got to take home their planted pot and their gardening gloves. Instead of gifts for himself, my son asked to donate items to the food bank. So each child brought things for the food bank. When we made the drop off yesterday afternoon, we found out that in one party he had collected 76 pounds of food and $25.00!!!! Even though presents are fun, he was so happy to know that he had helped out a lot of people!

I took my son to the circus and then we went home and had a barbecue. Another day we made a birthday party for him, with other kids from the family and the cake.
