2nd B-day Party Cake Idea

[deleted account] ( 9 moms have responded )

My little girls birthday is on Easter this year so we are planning a large Easter/Birthday party. I have always made the girls' birthday cakes but I don't want to do a bunny...any suggestions???

I always make the cake whatever they are into at that time.  We've had Fifi, Violet, handbag, frog & a bee.  This year we are doing stephanie from lazytown & peppa pig.  I just bake the cake cut it into shape & ice in different colours.

Who says it has to be something specifically Easter? I am doing a small tiered cake in cheery spring colors, with polka dots and daisies. Another easy idea, but that looks really spectacular if done right, is a square cake, decorated like a birthday present. You can use spring colors, and if you want to get fancy, roll out some fondant ribbon and make a bow for the top!

How about an Easter Egg, an Easter Basket, a Chick, her favorite flower, et. Or if you want to make it just about her birthday try her favorite character; Dora, Elmo, SpongeBob, etc.
When my oldest turned 5 we did cupcakes that the children got to decorate themselves. That may be fun for little ones as long as you watch the decorations....maybe just let them ice the cupcakes. I know our 2 year old is very independent and wants to do everything herself. Good Luck and Happy Birthday!!

We are doing a ladybug theme.  I am making a four tier flower cake with cupcake sized ladybug cakes all over it.  Ladybug things are easy to find in the store this time of year (plates, cups, decorations).  Jelly belly beans can be cut and stuck together to make little bug candies, and we are going to play pin the lady bug on the flower.  My aunt is making a ladybug pinata for me.

I saw at Target that they have shaped cake molds that are silicone, there is a butterfuly and some super cute flower cupcake ones and I think I'm going that route this year.

I think cupckaes are a good way to go. They are small enough for your daughter to eat and they are always fun. By the way my son was born on Arpil 12th as well. Gotta love the Easter baby this year!

I think the cupcake idea is great. That's what we'll be doing for the next few birthdays I think. The kids can decorate them and make a huge mess and have a blast.

My daughter is turning 2 on April 9th, but I'm having her party on the 11th. (I will have a week and 1/2 year old) so this year I am making cupcakes, and I will do sprinkles on top, and make little bees, and butterflies fingers crossed...I also have a 3 1/2 year old who will want to help. I'm hoping the cupcake route will be easier. You can also decorate them to look like easter eggs. Happy  Birthday to your little girl!

You can always make an egg shapped cake. A nice flower or boquet would be nice too. Another idea is to make a cake look like a basket then on the top put green coconut flakes and candy/eggs/chocolate. It will look like an easter basket cake! My son will be 2 the day before yours on 4/11!
