At what stage do you agree to have tonsils removed? And at what age?

Hey Casey
Sounds like your little one was just the same as my little girl Bella. She has Asthma too but since the operation there hasn't been too much trouble with it and she hasnt needed the 3 inhalers and steroids as much thank god. Its so weird how it's all connected but a simply operation can help the situation near enough straight away!
Hope all is well with your son now too xx

My son had his tonsils, adenoids and tubes put in when he was two. he was diagonsed with asthma and snored a lot. Them we found out he had sleep apnea. I think you should talk with your ent, they should reccommend something for you.

The opp is done and he is sleeping so much better at night! He can breath. The adenoids being the biggest problem! Wow what a difference!!!

hi... i think its best to wave all options and really talk with your child's ent about having the toncils removed. both of my kids have had their adnoids removed without the toncils and had pe tubes done in the ears. They were both listed with RSV at same time. My son was 2 1/2 weeks old then. and this yr already had reactive airway too just cause he had a cold or something. My kids also see a peds pulmunary dr which helps way down medical choices. My girl toncils are enlarged for her age but even the ent said nope we are not takin out. I get tired and feel bad when the kids are sick for this or that but the toncils play a big role to a childs illness per what my childs ent always tells me so if you can take all your measures first before final decision.

The ent says he needs his tonsils & adenoids removed and grommets put in. I am so tired of the constant upper respiratory infections every 2 - 3 weeks for the past 12months, that I think I agree with him...

Hi... for your children, don't let them get their tonsils all bruised up before getting it removed... it just increases the risk in the surgery... personally I think get it removed at a very healthy stage of his/her tonsils and probably before the age of 16... I have seen children getting tonsils removed as young as 5...
