I started potty training my daughter this past June and she was getting better through the summer and then I was on bed-rest and had twins. She has regressed! I am going full force now and wondering how many out there already are? Just curious!

Chels has been fully daytime PT since about a month before she turned 3. She refuses to come out of her room before her father & I open her door so night time is still pull ups for us. She's doing a way better job at holding it until she can get to a potty so hopefully we will only need another package of pull ups before we are free forever!

My three year old is being very stubborn! She was doing great for two weeks with no accidents, then stopped using the potty altogether! Can be very frustrating. I guess she'll do it when she's ready!

My son will be 3 this week and he has been going to the toilet (he prefers it to the potty) for about a month now with only 2 accidents. I still have pull ups on him at night time but Im not really worried about that yet as long as he is trained during the day I will tackle night time when we are both ready. I thought that it was going ton take him forever because he never seemed interested and then one day he said to me that he wanted to wear undies so I let him. I thought its either undies or nappies I wasnt going to flip back and forth and he hasnt looked back thankfully.

my nearly 3 year old daughter has to be naked to use the potty, she runs around the house all day and doesnt have an accident (however she'll insist on a nappy for number 2's). as soon as i put any sort of pants(pullups, knickers, shorts etc) on her she'll pee them almost straight away!! i'm getting a little worried as she starts school next year and i dont want her wetting herself there!! any advice would be greatly appreciated

My little boy is nearly three and has been potty trained since he was two, and he is nearly dry at night. I just went for it when Braylee became interested in the toilet and within two days he was dry! i have just been really lucky, a child will only do it when they are ready too, so i wouldnt stress to much over it every child is different!

My son has used the potty on and off and knows what to do, he even did it for an entire week last fall but then he asked me to go when his brother was nursing 2 days in a row and I didn't want to push the baby off so he had to wait and since then he has flat refused to use the toilet or potty chair. I've tried bribing him with big boy underwear but he just peed in them within 10 minutes and then took them off quietly and went on the floor as well. I don't know what to do. I mostly just leave him alone about it now but still ask a few times a week in he would try the potty and the answer is always- NO!
Anyone who's had a kid like this??? I'd love some advice =)

They are ready when they are ready. My little girl was completely trained this last January. I think I could have worked on her earlier but I was taking a class and wanted to get a research paper taken care of so I could give my full attention to her. We would do good, because she only had to go potty a couple times a day (sounds strange and I swear we are not starving or dehydrating her!)....On days when she refuses because she wants to go watch TV or play (too busy to go potty) I find ways of bribing her, like she can't have her vitamin until she uses the potty in the morning, before she would go when I offered to let her watch my iPod videos (I told her all the Single Ladies are going potty LOL!!) that helped!

I started potty training my son on his 2nd birthday and it only took a few months for him to get it down. Obviously we are about to have his 3rd birthday and he has been wearing underwear for a long while and he does not have to wear pull ups when he sleeps either. It is awesome!

The way I did it was put underwear on him and he had to get tired of peeing and pooping all over himself. Which it worked!

Wow, I imagine that's tough with bedrest, twins and all, it makes sense she would regress a bit. We started early with our guy, just "natural infant hygiene" from 6 months old to age 1, then didn't have time to work on it again til almost age 2. Then we just kept it really fun, positive and consistent, and he got it within a few months :) By 2 1/2 he was really 100% accident free and dry all night, too, which is SO great! I think it's mostly about our attitude, more than theirs - if you make it a fun, exciting experience, and just part of life every day like eating, etc., she will follow your lead. Stick with it and be positive and patient and consistent and she will catch on again soon!!!

Hayden is trained but every now and then when her cousin is over she might randomly have an accident. Just remember, try to be patient becuase Hayden regressed too when we moved and it was much harder to retrain. Its probably just because there was a big change in her life. Good Luck!!

My son is fully potty trained--during the daytime. At night we still wear a Pull-Up. If there was anything I've learned from my older son, it is to chill out and let them do this on their own. My older son used to freak me out, he was 3 and not potty trained yet, and you know then you have all these "useful" (NOT) advices which make you even crazier. He only started to go on his own when I relaxed and gave him some breathing room.
With my second one, I didn't push him, I kinda prepared myself that he was going to be in diapers as long as needed, maybe until 3 or more, but he learned fast and on his own. Maybe from watching his older brother, I don't know. It happened in the fall...like literally one week he was still wetting diapers and next week he was using the toilet. For some reason, it took him longer to learn how to go number 2 than number 1, I thought it was supposed to be the other way around.

Anyhow--the only thing that I also noticed is that potty training goes much quicker when you take the diapers completely off and/or substitute for regular underwear. I got these Gerber training pants at the store, they're made of fabric but have a little bit of padding so it's a little bit more absorbable. You will suffer through a lot of cleanup but it really works...I think my 2 year old sometimes will still go in the diaper if I put it on him, but never in the underwear.

About regression--it happens, just wait it out. Just think--kids in middle school/high school do not wear diapers, they all went through this, eventually your kid will too :)

When Kizhara was 11 weeks I found a site called diaperless babies and learned to read the signs of when she needed to go and had been "potty training" right from the start. She was out of diapers most of the time at home and after her 2nd birthday never wore diapers again. She is fully potty trained ever since and only occasionally wets the bed at night like maybe two or three times in the past 6 months.

My daughter was potty trained in July of 2009, with the occasional accident during the night, so she would wear pull ups to bed. I quickly realized that this would not happen if I stopped giving her fluids after 7pm. As of September 2009 she was no longer wearing pull ups to bed.

My son has been potty trained for the day (night has been harder) since June. He was really easy to train. People say boy are harder but mine was easy. Night time took until December and he still has a accident about once a week, but keep up to effort. Sometimes a new baby (or two) in the house cause children to regress. She'll get it just don't give up!

My little guy is pretty much #1 trained, but is still doing #2's in his undies. He's better about it when out and about than he is at home. - even asked to use the restroom and did a #2 while we were out eating the other night, so I thought we'd turned a corner. But alas, back to normal undie messes with it after that.

We're trying not to make a big deal of it - have some 'poopy prizes' for when he does get #2's in the potty.

my daughter just started no pullups at night two days ago when we ran out of them. but she has been dry in the morning for awhile now. She started potty training when she was 18 months old but regressed because she just didn't care enough. i really wanted to wait but she insisted. then after she regressed, I didn't push it. then i started getting tired of changing her diaper. for christmas i gave her some new underwear. so it wasn't just hand me down underwear from her sister. that did it! she has been using the potty successfully ever since. but it always had to be her idea. if I even suggested it, she would say no! but if i just left her alone, she would go when she felt the urge. one time, she had a little accident cause she didn't go fast enough. So I told her that is why Mommy always asks her if she has to go. Now she is better with suggestions of going. every child is different, this one was surely different from my other two children. she trained to go #2 without a hitch where my other two had a really hard time with #2 to the point of having to use laxatives. Not fun! This one never ceases to amaze me! Good Luck!

I tried to set make a time to start with my son last year but had so many things going on i kept forgetting to ask him 'do you need to go to the potty' and I ended up failing the training about 3 times that year and gave up the efforts until this summer (January). I was concerned that he'd be starting preschool in April when he turns 3, without being trained. So with no more procrastinatin I dedicated a week to staying home with no outings scheduled. It ended up being the right time for him. I had put him in undies one afternoon and he was trained by the next morning, day and night. I was in shock. I was always told boys take a lot longer. I was sure he was too interested in Thomas The Tank Engine to bother with learning but after two accidents that first afternoon where he'd straddled over to me like a cowboy hating the feeling of being wet, that was it. He was done. No wet nappy at night and no accidents in the day either. I think it's very important to encourage but not push the training as each child learns at different rates so what suits one child at one age, doesnt suit another at the same age. It puts so much pressure on children too. I know children who still wet at night at the age of 7 and 8 and it's only due to the deepness of sleep. It's not always but sometimes and while they have been checked by pediatricians and urologists and gp's, nothing has been found other than the connection at night hasnt allowed the brain to wake to wee. Don't put pressure on yourself or your child. Take it slow and it's normally a one step forward, two steps back thing so although my son at 2, amazed me, thought I still expect accidents to happen one day and if it does it's nothing to worry about. I think having tried pull-ups a few times during the last year, he understood that people go to the toilet and was just ready when i committed to it, by some miracle. While he did try pull ups last year, I had made the effort to alway put him on the toilet before bed. To start the connection and maybe that helped him work out the night time training himself. On the second afternoon I took him to the shops and I showed him the shopping centre toilets and got him to use the toilet there so he knew full well that he doesnt have to just have accidents during outings either. He was all excited about that (especially because the parent rooms had "little toilets for little boys and big ones for big mummy's". He felt very proud. He has been a champ at it but I know I was stressing myself out about it for a long time and really, it all came down to just managing to do it all when he was ready.

I started potty training my daughter when she was 9 months old. I used those toilet seat reducer types. For bladder control, I took her off diapers during the day when she turned 15 months old. I used to take her to the toilet every 20 minutes and gradually increased it to 30, 40, 50, hourly intervals based on her need to go. She was fully potty trained by the time she was 18 months old. I never used pull-up pants and she was off diapers at night since she was 20 months old. We had many bladder accidents in the first few months, but after constantly reminding her to remind me when she had to go we made it!

I think it's safe to say that my daughter is fully potty trained. She'll have an accident while she's sleeping once in a while but for the most part she does pretty good. She will say when she needs to go and do it on her own and sometimes she wont say anything at all. When it comes to potty training every child is completely different. You just have to find out what works best for you and your daughter and stick with it.

I don't believe in potty training anymore! My son was "potty trained" when he was 18 months. I mean potty trained as in he would tell me when he has to go to the bathroom and didn't wear any diaper for about 4 days, then we went on a trip and 2 hours later he was just peeing and pooping everywhere. So I had to put him back on diapers and then when his sister was born Aug 09, we started training again and same thing happen. He would regularly go to the bathroom, lets me know when he has to go and regresses back a week later! Out of frustration, I quit. I am just going to wait until he decides he does not want to wear any diaper anymore.
