Any tips on how I can get my 3 yr old girl to stop wanting her bottle especially at night. It seems to be only when shes at home she wants it too! At the childminders she doesnt ask for it nor anywhere else really, only if were out and shes really really tired. And because she always wants it to go to sleep this leads her to wet the bed some nights.

She starts nursery in Sept and Im worried how shes gonna get on without it!! My mum says shes clearly playing me for the fool as its only at home she wants it so clearly can see im gonna give into her rather than listen to the hours of screaming if I dont. and its not the milk that she wants its defo the bottle because Ive tried offering her milk in a cup instead but it doesnt work!!

I just in the last few weeks got rid of the bottles. So hard. I finally came up with the milk bottle fairy. She came during the night and took all the bottles and in replace left a huge present of new colourful cups and a bracelet that had a little fairy on it. Whenever she asked for the bottle i say. Oh but the milk bottle fairy took them, don't you remember, no problems at all. Asks for them but doesn't get upset.

Hi, i didnt hve problems with either of my kids but, my friend said that she had to tell her child that you can only use a bottle when you are a baby then you have to give them away. she made it a big thing and said the mail man had to pick up the bottles at a certain time so together they bagged up the bottles and set them outside "for the mailman" she had bought her daughter a sippy cup in a bag and where she had put the bottles she put the bag of sippys. it was like the mailman got her big girl cups! hope this helps!

I took him shopping with me and showed him the NUK junior bottle, it's the one with the push up top and not the dummy.I then told him that was a big boy bottle and that he could only have it if he threw away the baby bottle. He agreed but it did take at least 4 days for him to stop asking for the other bottle.Good luck to all those other Moms.

When my daughter was a few weeks from 3, I just told her one night that I couldn't find her bottle and offered her a drink in a cup. I did this for 2-3 nights and then she didn't ask any more. Now if I could just hide all 20 of her binkies. :)

Hi Haley, my son turned 3 in April. He also still wanted milk at night, so one evening (5 weeks ago) I told him that I had accidentally broken his bottle. He cried a little that night, but by the second evening when I reminded him of his broken bottle, he did not cry or make a fuss. It took 4 nights of reminding until he stopped asking for a bottle. He also did not want milk in a cup until a week ago, so just be patient. He also sleeps through now, whereas he would wake up at 1am for another bottle.

Np, stay strong kids will try you until you break. it will take about 3 to 4 day for them to understand thats they are not going to get what they want. Just remember you are doing it for them. Your NOT the "BAD GUY" :)

Arr Thanks for that, Tonight has been a complete nightmare with the screaming fit as I refused to give her the bottle. It was extremely hard for me not to give in to her pleas and puppy dog eyes (she looked like she was on her last legs bless her) but she eventually gave up asking and went to bed, But I don;t think it is over with as we have tomo to go and the next day and the next!
I will give your option a try though as it sounds like a good Idea. Thanks for your reply xx

My Dr. told me to cut the top of the nipple off, and when they try to suck on it it wont feel the same and they wont want it. It worked for us. We did it when my son was 18months old. now all he wants is a cup, he dosent even like sippy cups. Good luck
