My 19month old daughter is obsessed with Barney. She sits glued to the t.v whenever Barney is on. Its quite educational i know, but is this a good thing for them to be watching the telly for such long periods of time.....Any Barney fans out there??

My son lovvvves Barney. He will only really watch Barney or Elmo but for some reason he really likes Barney and will ask to watch it several times a day. I am trying to limit it but it's hard when he enjoys it so much!

My little SISTER was a Barney fan back in the day, and I was way "too cool" for that "baby" show, so I have a personal vendetta against Barney. I like the concept of the show, but I can't stand HIM. LOL I miss Fred Penner's Place and the Elephant Show! Anyhoo, once in a while when I'm trying to get housework done I'll turn on Noggin, the preschool Nickelodeon station, but she really doesn't seem to be interested. She loves to dance too, so I'm suprised the musical shows don't really impress her. She doesn't watch much, but I agree with the other posters, as long as they're not just sitting around zoning out for hours a day, I don't think it's a problem. Sometimes they help me come up with little mini-lessons or themes for the day. Everything is a learning experience!

My son is "Narney" fan (he can't quite say Barney yet). He LOOOOOVES "Narney" (as he calls him) and Elmo. We allow him to watch Barney three times a week and his Dvd's aren't long. The longest we have is 40 minutes. Elmo DvD's are long they're about 52 minutes so we cut it off and tell him Elmo went "nite nite." Also, He loves dancing so he is very active while watching Barney, he dances and sings along.
My pediatrician is more on the stricter side and reconmmends no TV until they're 2. I tried to follow that rule but Barney took over LOL.
Like the other poster said you will get those songs stuck in your head. It's awful, I'm at work singing those darn songs - quite embarrassing.

My son loves "BAHNY" too. He just started watching it and it is the only thing besides Handy Manny that he will stop long enough to look at. I don't think it is bad for her to watch. Word of warning: You will get those dang songs stuck in your head.

My son loves Barney! He sleeps with a Barney stuffed animal. My pediatrician said TV isn't bad as long as you interact with your child while the TV is on.
