My son's doctor said he is to be eating about 32oz of formula a day and 3 meals of solids. He normally gets between 26 and 32 daily. Depends on how he is feeling...somedays he wants all 32 and then some and there are other days when he barely gets the 26 in.

Lots! She loves her milk, about fifty percent formula / breastmilk. She eats three times a day, which she loves, but she asks for milk still.

Blake is almost 10 months, was born on the 17 April 2008 and he has roughly 26oz formula a day with 3-4 solid meals. The clinic said he should be eating more solids and drinking less formula............however I don't follow that, I'm using my own discresion and think he's fine the way he is. With the teething he doesn't always want solids, and he loves his bottles so I don't see any harm on him having bottles when he wants them. I always try solids first and if he won't have then I offer him his bottle.

Thanks for all of the responses! I feel better knowing that my little girl isn;t the only one not drinking tons of milk. My mom instincts tell me she is just fine drinking that amount...I think if she needed more her body would tell her to drink more. Thanks again...this April group is great!!

Griffin drinks anywhere from 34oz to 40oz a day.  He LOVES his bottle.  I'm trying to get him to eat solids and he is NOT interested.  He is 9 months old and weighs 22lbs.

My daughter is 10 months on the 14th of feb last weigh in she was 16lbs and i have had to up her milk in take (after a deiscussion with my mother in law and a book she had brought) so she now was at least 16oz a day. i she has a 6oz bottle when she wakes up then i use 4oz of milk on her breakkie the spread the rest over the day. Apparently it is becuse they need the iron because by 6 months there iron stores start to get used up (this was not a medical quote it was my mother in law and a book lol)

My son just turned 9 months old on Thursday and he drinks 23 oz of formula a day. We went to the doctor last week and she said this amount is just fine for him. He is bigger than some of your babies, 22 lbs, 13 oz at his checkup, but the doctor said this is fine too, he's in the 80th percentile for his weight. We are doing all table food and the formula to supplement. He was ready to move away from jarred food and is great at chewing, etc, even though he doesn't have teeth yet!!

Ironically, my son's pediatrician has said the opposite.  He is in the 30% for weight, and the doctor instructed me to back away from solids and push the formula up to 32 ounces a day. We are not getting that into him, but when we get close, he sleeps much better through the night.

my daughter is 91/2 months and for her age they say about 24 oz a day is good. i usually give her 4 6oz bottles throughout the day. I'll feed her the bottle then wait an hour and feed her her cereal and jarred food. it helps space out her food so she's not too full or starving by the time her next meal comes. a good webite is www.gerber.com. they have a nutrition and feeding section based on what stages your baby is at and gives you guidlines and sample menus to give you an idea of what is healthy for your baby. i don't follow the menu to a tee, but it gave me a starting off point. every baby is different. like my daughter isn't into table food yet, still on cereal and puree.

My son just turned 9 months today and loves his solids. He nurses about 5 times in 24 hours. Not sure how many ounces but it must be enough because I'm guessing 20 lbs. at his checkup next week.

I'm glad this came up! I wasn't sure if she was getting enough cuz she's in the 25%ile for weight. Lily only drinks about 12-16 oz of formula and a couple ounces of water/juice in the day. My doctor said to not worry so much about the liquids and get more solids in her to help her gain weight. (She's 16lbs 8oz and 29.5 inches tall)

My baby Lucas is 19 lbs and drinks 16-18 oz a day..sometimes less. Pediatrician said not to worry cause he's getting most of his nutrition from the solids. Just make sure your solids have a tonne of nutrition in it. I was wondering this same question a couple weeks ago when i switched over from nursing to formula. Mind you..i still nurse at night :)

Katie my daugheter is 15 pounds 8 ounces last time I had her at the doctor which was last week. She normally gets a bottle when she wakes up and then right before bed well I should say if after she eats and then goes to sleep and wakes up I give her a bottle. She has a couple bottles in between the day depending on her mood. I am not sure what she is to be drinking at 9 months. I feel as long as my baby is gaining weight drinking and eating then I am not going to worry to much.

My daughter Kiley has defnitely take on a liking for more solid foods than milk. She drinks about 18 oz/day and aboud 5 oz of water with a little bit of juice. I told the doctor about this and she told that it is normal for a baby to change the amount of how much milk they'll drink. And if she has regular bowel movement and she does not seem constipated or dehydrated, she's okay. Hope this helps.

Quoting Stacie:

I think Brittany drinks anywhere between 12 - 24 ounces depending on the day. She only takes 6 ounces at a time. She likes her solids more then her bottle

Good. My daughter only weighs 16 lbs so I think she just doesn't need as much milk as the bigger babies do.

Quoting Katie:

How much formula/breatmilk is your baby drinking in a day?

My daughter is 9 months and 3 weeks and she will only drink 16 oz of formula a day. She just doesn't like to drink. I have tried a bottle, sippy cup and a regular sup. She'll only drink 2-3 oz at a time! Our doctor told us she has to at least drink 24 oz a day. How many oz does your baby drink a day?
