Hi all... I'm really looking forward to being able to get tips and advice from other moms in the same situations! I have a daughter, Ava, who was born April 4th, so she's almost 7 months now. At about 2 months or so, she started to sleep pretty well through the night, so I thought I was one of those moms who "lucked out". Everything lasted fairly well until she began crawling and sitting herself up at 22 weeks old. Within a few days of doing that, she began severely protesting her reasonable 9pm bedtime (I'm talking about full out screaming sessions!) It's been about 7 weeks since she started actively crawling, and she's been going at breakneck speed ever since... first pulling herself up on all our furniture a few weeks ago, and as of last week, walking around holding onto whatever is within reach. Now, not only are her bedtimes suffering, but she's begun refusing to nap for longer than 20 or 30 minutes (previously took 2-3 2 hour naps) without me either singing her to sleep for 40+ mins or just giving up altogether and napping with her!! I don't GET it?!? I've read that when they start learning more and more things, they have a harder time sleeping as much, but she still needs to sleep! If I simply followed her cues, she'd probably only sleep for 7-8 hours a day total... and this is over 6 hours LESS than she was previously sleeping. At the risk of losing my mind, I've given in to napping with her sometimes, but I'm scared I'm starting a horrible habit that will be even harder to break... If ANYONE has any tips I would appreciate them SOOO much!!!... I love that she just wants to go-go-go, but I'm slowly GOing crazy, and get nothing done at all around the house anymore, so everything is starting to suffer... HELP.

This really must be an april baby thing. My daughter is like that too. For the longest time, I tried being nice and nurturing blah blah blah and letting her have her own schedue, but then when she started skipping naps, or only napping 20 min at a time staying up all night, I turned into an absolute zombie. By the third week of one hour of sleep a day enough was enough. Before she would fall asleep while she was playing for about 10 minutes and then go back to playing. Now I make sure she is wide awake and fully stimulated for the entire morning, grumpy or not. I have to totally play her out, wrap her up with a blanket I've slept with for a few days, pop a suckie in her mouth and put her in a pitch black room for a nap when the rest of my kids go down for their naps.

My daughter was born April 1st and she is just as active as your daughter. Madisyn is also having the same sleep issues. Nighttime has been terrible and I am getting very little sleep but I make her take naps even if she doesn't want to. I try to keep her on the same nap schedule each day and just let her cry herself to sleep. Sometimes she takes a two hour nap but that is pretty rare, usually she only sleeps for 45 min to an hour.
