Hi! I have a 2 year old son, and i don't know if it is a boy thing but we are having problems with throwing things. It seems like all he does is throw cars, trucks, anything at one of us or his sister. He's very active, i have often wondered if he has adhd. i have never seen a kid this hyper. but does anyone else having a "Thowing" child? What do you do?

My youngest is a thrower everything from food to cups to cars to just anything he can pick up. After he threw a cup at and cracked the screen on our t.v. we are working on redirecting the throwing into something usefull, and less costly. We gave him a bunch of nerf type balls and he gets those when he wants to throw something. Throwing in the house or throwing food gets him a time-out (food taken away, but he has to sit in his chair anyway until we are all finished eating) and then we go outside to throw. He still throws but he is learning fast.
Good luck

Thank you ladies for your advice! He is such a momma's boy it's just weird for him to act out.... although the past 2 days we haven't thrown anything....now we have "my momma" fights over me.lol you gotta love when your kids fight over you, makes all the cleaning and poopy diaper changes well worth it!

Hi hun. My little boy is the same. He's always throwing things at his siblings. Like Tara said it's just an attention thing.Just be firm about it. He's also very hyper so I'm not bothered about him running round. It won't do them any harm.xx

My daughter does the same thing. She throws things at me or my husband ( she's an only child right now). It's for attention and testing boundaries. They want to know what they can get away with. Just continue to be firm about not throwing things at others and ask him to say sorry. My daughter can get hyper too. It's just them burning off energy. Don't be so quick to diagnose things as ADD or ADHD. Kids have energy and are not quite sure how to contain it. My daughter is bouncing all over the couch as I type this.
