Hello ladies,
First of all - this is great! I'm a newbie here and already have found all the threads so helpful!
My question to all of you is about your breastfeeding schedule and solids. My daughter Emily has been on solids since she was about 4 1/2 months. Since she turned 6 months old she's been eating solids 3 times/day (9ish, 1ish and 5ish). She's a really good eater, eating about 4 ounces of food per meal.
I'm also breastfeeding 3 times/day for about 1/2 hour (7:30ish, 11ish, 3ish) and she has a bottle of breastmilk fed by her daddy at bedtime (8ish).
I haven't been feeding her any breastmilk at mealtimes. Should I be? I'm not sure if I should be finishing her off with some milk. Also, I've just started introducing a sippy cup at mealtimes - although right now all she does is chew on the handles - lol.
My questions are: Should I be feeding her breastmilk at mealtimes? Am I giving her too much or not enough breastmilk? Anyone have any sippy cup tips?
Thanks all!

I swear by the Nuby cups with the soft spout for picky babies, it's the only thing my daughter would take when it was time to take the bottle away, also most babies don't want to drink from it at first, it takes a while right now it's a toy:) she'll get the hang of it a little later it's just the familiarity that important right noe good luck!

the only thing she gets to drink here is breastfeeding. They don't need any water with that, because breastfeeding has water in it and it's good for you too when you want to breastfeed for a long time. (English isn't my motherlanguage, so if anything isn't clear, please ask ;o))
They even don't need solids before 6 months.;o)

I give my son some food (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and then top him off with a nursing. I also nurse him when he wakes up from his am & noon naps. He seems to nurse the same amount each time but he is a BIG boy and eats a LOT! We do give him a sippy cup of water. We use the Avent sippy cups. Haven't seen them around lately but I had them from when my daughter was a baby. He even sips off of my regular cups!

We just started a new schedule last week. She BF's as soon as she wakes up 6:45ish. Breakfast is at 9:00 or 9:30 (cereal and banana with apple juice). Another BF when she wakes up from her am nap (ususally 10:30). Lunch at 12:30-1:00 (Yogurt & Cheerios). BF after the pm nap (3:00). Supper with the family around 6:30 (veggies-sweet potatoes and avocado are the favorite). BF at bedtime (8:30). We got this idea from the Super Baby Food Diet by Ruth Yaron btw.

My son took to a sippy cup with no problems and I even have two different kinds. Our pediatrician suggested putting a little apple juice in with the water to give it flavor and motivate the baby to tip it up and get the juice. I'm not sure about the schedule for eating and nursing either....would love to hear what other people are doing.

We tried all kinds of sippy cups and finally broke down and bought the expensive Nuk Orthodontic cups. They were worth every penny and are the only sippy cups that our daughter can manage to get any water from. But, that being said, she often just chews the handle and we have to help her hold the cup most of the time.
