What happened the day you went into labor? Read my CRAZY story.

Hey, okay, my story is crazy. First off, when I hit full term I was doing everything in my power to have Fatty (my son) and it was not working!!! On Saturday, April 5th (3dys before my due date) I am walking to go pay our rent, I'm feeling a little wet so I changed clothes, wait..... nothing so I go back to doing nothing. Couple hours later I feel wet again so I'm asking myself, "Are you being paranoid, cause you're home alone? Should I go to the hospital just in case?? Why did Brother have to be out of town now?? Do I call papi (my husband) and let him know?? How will I get to the hospital?? Let me call papi." So I call my husband, he says to call Cuzn (our family friend, Lionel) so I call cuzn and I'm like, "Are you busy right now?" and he's like, "Not really, what's up?" and I'm like, "I need to you to take to the hospital." ......Silence........... "It's time?" "Idk, I think my water may have broken, but I want to check for sure." "Ok, I'm on my way." I call papi let him know what's up. I 'm at the hospital. waiting, getting kinda annoyed because another person has walked in and asked me if I smoke or drink or been abused, yada, yada, yada. So the doctor FINALLY comes in, and he's all, "Your water has broken yet, you are have some mild contractions mixed in with Braxton Hicks *me, "What?"* and you're only one centimeters dilated so we can't keep you. So I'm like ......oooookkkkkkaaaaayyyyyy.....???? We get back home at 8:30pm, cuzn stays just in case, so I go upstairs to try and relax (ha!). Another family friend comes over, they leave and walk to the store. It's now 10:00, I am crying my eyes out, "What should I do, it hurts so much, but they say it's not really real? Do I just wait till papi gets off (midnight)? Who can I call?" I call my mom who is in VA (we're country folks so I thought she had some remedy to ease the pain, she didn't.) she doesn't answer. I call again no answer, I try my Auntie who is a nurse, no answer. I call my mom back, at first she doesn't know who I am cause she can hear is crying. She finally figures out that it is me and asks me a series of questions, "How far are the contractions, Where is Keon (papi), Are you timing them?, Are you home alone? What's Keon's work number? They are coming to close together, you need to go to the hospital now!!!" I'm crying and screaming, "I don''t know!! It hurts!!! He's at work, doesn't get off till 12. No, I can't. No, yes, I don't know they went to the store!!! I'll call." I hang up and attempt to call my husband right when another contraction hits so the guy that answers get , "Can I *gasp for air* speak to *gasp* Keoooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!" LOL. Cuzn and Calvin runs up the stairs to find me holding on to the closet door. They help me down the stairs (we lived in a townhouse) and then down the stairs outside down the hill to the car. Now, mind you it's night and raining, I have on shorts, and a hoodie. Nothing else. I try to call papi back to make sure they knew and they told me that he was on the way. We get to the hospital at 10:30 (now remember I just left 2hrs ago), they ask me for my info and I'm like lady I was JUST here!!!!! They take to the room and give me an IV, ask me if I want drugs. It's almost 11, it takes 25 mins at the most to get from his job to here so now I'm freaking out because I know that he's not going the speed limit or stopping when he knows I'm in labor so that doesn't help. As they are rolling me to the elevator he runs up beside me. I found out later that the car ran out of gas leaving work, lol. I had Fatty at 4:55am Sunday morning on April 6th,

Wow you guys have a lot more interesting stories than I have! I had a planned c section so I never went into labor!! I had a c section with my older daughter and they also thought she was going to be like 11 lbs. I woke up the morning of April 28 and got my other daughter who was 11 months at the time ready to take over my mom's & of course me and my husband got ready! We went to the hospital and they did all the normal things like take blood, put an IV in, hook me up to the monitors, etc. They basically got me ready for the c section which was sceduled for 10 am. I walked back to the OR they gave me a spinal which I had an epidural the time before and the epidural is way better I think!!! Alyssa Faith was born April 28 at 10:21am and weighed 10 lbs. 3.7 oz. & was 20 in. long!!! Everything went well she was healthy and the surgery went well too!!!

Wow, my story is nothing compared to these! I just hope I'm as lucky next time. The baby, we didn't find out the sex, was due on April 15th but I was convinced the baby would come sooner as I lost my mucus plug mid-March. So April 15th came and went with no action. I stopped answering the phones as I was sick of people calling and asking, "Any baby yet?" Um....yeah, we had her a week ago and just didnt tell you....I was so annoyed! We tried everything anybody would tell us, including sex which was interesting at 40 weeks pregnant and nothing worked to bring baby! We went for our 1 week overdue appoinment on April 22nd and I was only 1 centimeter dialted and efaced a little but I can't remember the percentage, so we schedule an inducement for that Friday April 25th. I really didn't want to be induced, I was kind of upset. The next morning I had the normal 3am pressure and went to the bathroom in the dark, then I had stronger pressure again at 5am and that was the beginning of the contractions. I had to go pee again 5 minutes later and decided to turn the light on this time, I saw some blood in the toilet so I woke my husband. I told him I thought things were starting and we should get ready to leave. So he took care of the animals, 2 cats and 1 dog as I sat on the edge of the bed as the contractions good strong very quickly. We paged the doctor around 6 am and heard back from her a little after 6:30, she asked us to come into the office to get checked out. We were supposed to be there around 7 but because of the contractions, I had to stop every couple of minutes and hold onto something. We got there around 7:15they checked me out, 3 centimeters dialted, I puked up some water a few times and started getting the shakes during each contraction. Apparently that is good, they called them the baby shakes and said that baby was coming soon. So off the the hospital we go and sent text messages and made calls on the way. Took us about 15 mintues to get to the hospital and I was admitted shortly after 8am. They checked me sometime between 8:30 and 9 and I was 5 centimeters dialated, asked if I wanted an epidural and although I had wanted to try and do it without, I didn't know if I could handle the contractions and then pushing the baby out, so to the surprise of my husband, I said yes! So I got the epidural a little after 9 and was very relaxed shortly thereafter. The next couple of hours felt like minutes to me while we watched Deadliest Catch on TV and chatted with the nurse intern. She was very chatty, we knew almost her whole life story, LOL. So I guess sometime aroiund 11:30 they checked me and I was ready to go (they broke my water around this time too), just let them know. So shortly after they all walked out of the room, baby decided she was ready, when they all came back in, we did about a half hour of pushing and Morgan Eileen was born at 12:30 in the afternoon, 8lbs.6oz. 20.5inches long. A total of 7.5 hours of labor, I consider myself very lucky!!!

My daughter was due Apr. 1st. By the 8th of Apr she still hadn't made an attempt to show up, so my doctor booked an inducement for the 11th. So my husband and my sister take the time off work, and we sit the whole day waiting for the hospital to call for us to come in. Well by 12:00 that night with no call, we decide to go to bed. At 8:00 the next morning, I called the mat ward at the hospital and tell them that I had an appointment the day before, and didn't receive a call to come in. I was told that the ward was so busy that myself and one other lady didn't make it in. Then the nurse asks how far along I am, and I tell her that I was due on the first, and then she freaks out, and I'm in the hospital by 3:30 that afternoon. Now I'm nervous because I've never been induced before ( my first was natural ), and I've heard that being induced is ten times worse. So the nurse comes in and breaks my water ( this is about 6:00 by this time), and tells me to go and take a walk. By 7:00 still nothing, so the hook me up to the oxicotin drip. By 8:30 the contractions start. The nurse says to me and my husband that they will increase the drip by two every half hour until contractions are where they should be. By 9:00 things are progressing nicely and my nurse says that she's going for a quick break and another nurse will look in on me. So in comes the other nurse and she bumps up the drip. OOPPPSSS.. too much. Now I'm only 4cm and the contractions are coming every 2-3 mins and are lasting 1- 1/2 mins. They get the anestiseologist in and get my an epidural, which only took on one side, so they had to call him back. I started pushing at 2:45 in the morning when the doctor comes in with an intern. She tells me to stop pushing, and 10 mins later my daughter was born. That was the best part. I got to just lay back and let my body do all the work. Thank god for good drugs. I didn't feel a thing, and I was the talk of the ward. Cool experiance after all the frustration getting there.

I was scheduled for an overnight induction on the 9th of April. I was sure sine she's my fourth I'd have her right away. Oh no that didn't happen though. The Dr. uses cervadil to ripen my cervix and goes home telling me the nurse will give me more in 4 hours. Um ok, this is my fourth so sleep close to the phone. That was at 7 pm. My contractions start around 8. They're manageable, but I'm a BIG wimp and can't really handle too much pain for any period of time. I specifically heard the Dr. tell the nurse that I was a 2 and could have the Epi at any time. At 10 I ask for the epi. SHE SAID NO. Excuse me? I heard the Dr. tell you I could have it. Oh I know but the anistesiologist (sp) won't come in for women only dilated to a 2. Besides, I'm experienced at this, how bad could it be? To hell with experience I've always had my epi early. Now I'm mad at my nurse. To hell with her and the drug guy. By this time, Chris, my husband is sound asleep in the chair. Nice! So here I am laboring on my own for the first time in my life. It didn't occur to me to wake him up. At 1 am here comes the nurse to check on me. So I beg her to check my cervix and see if I can have my epi now. She checks, I'm at a 3, maybe 4. Let's just say 4 and get me that damn epi! So she calls the drug guy. I wait, he doesn't show up. At 2 the nurse comes back and says he was held up and would I like some pain meds. I don't like to take meds because I have a weird allergy to demerol and I get scared when they mention them. But I've been in labor since 8. It's now 2 in the morning, so 7 hours in terrible pain. I'll take whatever you have. So she gives me statol, but only half a dose because like I said, I'm weird with meds. The statol does nothing for the pain, it's still there, but oddly enough, I don't care. That's what the statol does for you. Finally I could get some sleep. With every contraction I have, because of the statol, I envision this row of windows. If I can shut every window the contraction will end. So here I am, in my head, racing to shut these windows and sure enough when I get the last one shut, the pain subsides. (crazy, I know) Finally I get my epi at 3:30. Doc comes in and breaks my water and Bayleigh came into the world at 4:44 am. on April 10th. Beautiful baby girl, so tiny. She was 5 lbs. 15 oz. and 18 inches long.

The following 2 weeks were the most hellish weeks of my life. Bayleigh struggled and fought for every painful breath that she took. She was surfactant deficient and blew a pneumothorax in her right lung. (a hole in the lung filling her hest cavity with air) 2 weeks in the NICU and she's doing wonderful!

My due date was April 3rd with my first child (we decided not to find out, and by this time it was killing me to know what we were having). Well 5 days later, still no baby. Had been ~70% effaced for a couple weeks, but no contractions. I had a Doctor's appointment scheduled for the 8th, and they told me that if I wasn't progressing they would probably schedule an induction. When I show up for my appointment at 8 am, they take my vitals and the nurse proceeds to tell me that my BP was high and that the Dr. would most likely send me to the hospital. So go in for the appointment and still only 70% effaced and around 1 cm dilated. But as the nurse stated, he told me he was sending me to the hospital and I was going to have a baby today...to which I started freaking out! I got to the car and called my husband and my parents, and work (was going to go after appt) and headed over to the hospital. Next thing I know I was hooked up to the IV with the pitocin and due to BP they had to give me magneseum. My husband is a teacher and was at school when I called, so he couldn't leave until the sub showed up but joined me at the hospital by noon time. Well needless to say because of the Pitocin, my contractions were harsher so I told them I wanted the drugs!! I was pretty stable and resting, so my husband decided to go grab a bite to eat and some magazines for me to read. Well while he was gone they had hooked me up to some other machine (can't remember what had happened, remember I was on the good stuff!) I FINALLY got to 10 cm around 9 pm. They told me when I was ready to push to go ahead. I pushed for about an hour and the doctor came to check me and told me that the baby's head still wasn't low enough. I was like "are you sure, b/c it feels like it's right there!" He told me to push for another hour...so I did...and when he came back in the room I said to him "I don't care what you do or how you do it, but you have to get this kid out of me, I'm exhausted!!!" Oh yeah, forgot to mention I had a sinus infection and was so congested it made pushing difficult b/c I had trouble taking deep enough breaths. The doctor ended up vacuuming the baby out and at 11:02 pm, we welcomed a baby boy. A very alert one at that.

My Labor seems so mild and un-interesting compared to all these! My son was due on a Tuesday, and everything had been totally normal and on track the entire pregnancy, so we really did expect him on Tuesday. My mother came to town on Sunday evening and stayed in the hotel where I work for a couple nights. Tuesday I showed up to work "I'm still pregnant!". Normal day- so fat I could hardley reach my keyboard from my desk chair, had strange tightening feelings in my stomach all day long but so mild that if I wasn't paying attention I hardley noticed. My next check up was scheduled for Thursday and I was not interested in waiting that long! I told my mom that I was going to reschedule and go in on Tuesday afternoon after work. She told me about a dream she had the night before where I was walking the dog and she didn't have a stomach- just a big hole through her. Now I know my mother sounds crazy most of the time, but she's usually right about everything- so sure enough I go to the appointment Tuesday, dialated to 1- starting to thin out. I say "Tony's Dialated to 1! That means nothing to me!!" (Tony's my husband). We go home and take the dog for a walk... nothing! Wednesday comes and I showed up for work... "I'm still pregnant!" Same mild contractions all day... a little more frequent, about 15 minutes apart all day. Mom comes over and makes an awesome dinner for us and we eat around 8pm. Started having stronger contractions about halfway through the meal- didn't want to tell mom cause I figured she want to stay. Nothing too exciting the rest of the night. We went to bed- I was awoken with what felt like I was being kicked by a horse at around midnight. I decided I'd let my husband sleep and I'd go hang out on the couch. I called the Doc's on call nurse at around 130 and she said to wait until they were 5 minutes apart and call back. I started to have a little more painful contractions every 7-10 minutes from then until about 4am... I finally fell asleep for about 2 1/2 hours. When I woke back up the intensity of the contractions was growing, but they weren't getting any closer. My husband got up around 730 and took a shower- he asked how I was feeling and I told him "Wiggles is coming today- I don't know when, but he's coming today." (if you watched my stomach bounce you'd understand why we called him wiggles) So Tony called work and said that he wasn't coming in. I called work and told them that I was probably going to have a baby, so I didn't think I'd be coming into the office, but I'd let them know if I didn't. Contractions continued to get more painful, and around noon my husband called the Doc's office. "Are they 5 minutes apart yet?" "No- about 7-10, but that's how they've been since 1am and they're getting really strong" "Wait till they're 5 minutes and call back" GRRRRRRRRR- I didn't think they'd ever be that close. My sister called to check in on me around 130 and I dropped the phone when a contraction started and kneeled on the couch... Tony talked to her for a minute and then I went back to pacing... Mom checked out of the hotel and came over around 2 and I felt like everyone was just sitting there watching me go through labor. Finally when the contractions were taking my breathe away and making me weak in the knees I called the Doc's office again "Before you ask- NO They're still 7-10 minutes apart, but I can't stand anymore, I can't breathe during them, and If they get any more painful I'm going to cut this baby out myself!" "Ok" she says, " Let me call the Dr, I'll call you right back"... 2 contractions later, she calls back. "Go ahead and go over to the hospital, someone will see you there once you're admitted". FINALLY! It's 330 by the time I leave my house... I had been having contractions every 7-10 minutes for 15 hours!! My husband drops me off at the emergency entrance and parks the car, I get to the counter and start a contraction so I just hold up my finger to the guy and he stares at me for a minute... finally I say "I'm in labor"- he says "I figured, they're bringing a wheelchair for you right now". So they check and I'm 80%effaced and dialated to 4 centimeters... hey guess what- my contractions are still only 7 minutes apart!!! They admited me, got the epidural at like 6pm or something, finally was able to sleep for an hour or two. My contractions weren't 5 minutes or closer until I was fully effaced and dialated to 7. Then I started feeling the pain through the medication and I knew it was almost time. I kicked all the grandparents out of the room and once I hit 10 they told me to let them know when I was ready to push... I said I had to poo... that was at 9:58pm... I was watching them cut the embilical cord at 10:13pm. There was baby!

I was supposed to have my son on March 27th. He didn't want to come so we set up an inducement for April 5th. Sat. March 30th I started feeling mild contractions, but I had weird pains all through my pregnancy, so I kept going. We went to Lowe's and all around town shopping. We got home at 2pm with some bushes for the front yard. Eric (my husband) went out to plant them, and he hit the water main, bursting it. We had to call an emergency plummer to come and fix it. He came and said he didn't have all the parts, so he'd be back. I then told Eric about my contractions. He freaked out!! I told him I was ok, it wasn't time, they were too inconsistant and far apart. The plummer took 2 hours to come back, then he fixed it. We went to bed that night. I wnet to take a shower the next morning, and the water main had busted again. So the plummer had to come back out and fix it again. By this time my contractions were getting closer. After he left & I took a shower, we went to the hospital. They asked me all the questions, and an hour later the doctor came in. He said I was only 3 cm dialated and to go home. I did, then 4 hrs later I went again. They asked me the same questions again, and the doctor took 1.5 hours to see me this time. Now he said your are 5cm dialated, go home. The nurse told me to go walk around the mall and get something to eat. So we went shopping and grabbed a bite, then I really started feeling contractions that were 7min. apart, so back we went AGAIN!!! By this time it was 8pm, and a new doctor was on call (she was actually My doctor, so I was happy). She said that she never would have sent me home when I was 5cm dialated, and she admitted me. She ended up breaking my water at 11pm, and my son was born at 12:27 on April 1st. I had a natural childbirth, and my doctor kept saying how amazing that was. Most women say they don't want drugs, but then end up getting them before the day is done. I didn't, and she kept telling every new nurse that came in how amazing it was. ( I didn't know it was that uncommon). When we were setting up the induction date I said any day but April 1st, so just to spite me Dylan held out and came on April 1st anyway!!! He is the most wonderful baby, and I wouldn't change anything about him.
