Which Baby Bjorn carrier is best?

I loved the Bjorn. I got an Ergo, and my son cried every time I tried it. He loved the original Bjorn that was passed on to us. I had no problems carrying him in it until 9 months. My son still hates to have his legs spread "froggy style", so that was probably why he hated the Ergo.

I didn't like the Bjorn carriers either. I found them uncomfortable after 10-15 minutes. But I loved and still love the Ultimate Baby Wrap. It kept my baby safe and secure and close to my chest instead of a piece of cloth. The video that came with it made it really easy to use, and it washes really easily!! When the need arises. I do still use it with my 2 year old- for extra support- when he is tired and wants me to hold him- he is about 27 lbs.

I had a bjorn and my son didn't like it! I then got a Ergo and LOVED it! It was stolen so I am now getting my second one on Wednesday!! It is the greatest!!

None of the above. Baby Bjorn will kill your back after the baby starts to weigh more than 10 lbs. The Ergo carrier is the way to go.

I started with a Baby Bjorn with my now 2 year old and switched to the Ergo. So much better for both me and her. I like how the Ergo can be worn 3 ways (although I admit I never did master wearing her on my back). All those positive reviews on the Ergo are for a reason.

Skip the Bjorn...try an ErgoBaby carrier. You can carry your two year old in it on your back when you aren't carrying the baby on the front. It is seriously the best thing I have ever used...I've had 5 or 6 carriers, tried making my own, but none have been better. This carries the baby very close to you and is built ergonomically so that you don't have the aches and pains that you have with others where the baby weight pulls you down in the front. Just this weekend I carried my 4 month old during a 5km walk for charity ~ she slept the whole time and I was comfortable too. I had the Baby Bjorn Active, and I found it was ok for short periods, but I wouldn't recommend anything for long periods. The ones that are better for your back (like the Active carrier), aren't great for the baby's growing body and pelvic bones, and the sling-type ones that are better for the baby are hard on your back. I only used my Active carrier when absolutely necessary (ie shopping trips where no baby trolleys available, airports, etc). That said, Active was ok on my back (I've got problems), and it wasn't as hot as some of the carriers on the market. My son wasn't crazy about riding in it though. Stick to the pram (with toddler seat in your case), or if you need a shopping trolley, carry your baby into the shopping centre and find a baby trolley. Then you can put your nappy bag in the trolley too, and your toddler can walk alongside you. Also, Coles now have combination baby/toddler trolleys.

None are the best, the baby Bjorn places stress on the baby's pelvic bones and back. It's best that they are situated 'froggy leg' style as with an Ergo baby carrier.

Melissa, I did use the Baby Bjorn with my first son. Then, I learned of the risks of the Baby Bjorn and other similar carriers on the spinal column and hips due to the positioning.... Here is an article, just so that you can make an informed decision.

While my son had no adverse affects, I will be using either an Ergo or Mai Tei carrier with our next one, and not a Baby Bjorn.

I never tried the Baby Bjorn, but I did use the ErgoBaby carrier when I had my second child. I loved loved loved it!!!! I used it everywhere and loved how comfortable it was and my baby slept so well. It also has a sun shield and so baby won't get burned when being out in the sun for long periods of times and it has a zipper pocket for keys or whatever. Check out ergobabycarrier.com

Thanks Jennifer. Had a look online and the Panda Pocket does look comfortable. Unfortunately, doesn't look like they are stocked in Australia. Will keep looking though.

I've tried a few, not sure which brands but I've actually ditched them all. I have back problems and found them to be very uncomfortable and could only wear for myabe 20 minutes at a time. I ditched them all and now use a "Panda Pocket" Carrier. It is sooo comfortable. I can even comfortably carry my 22lbs 2yr old in it when I need to. Try one out...hope this helps :)
