U start baby food between 4 and 6 months. I actually started mine at 3 1/2. All u do is start with cereal first. Then gradually move to fruits. It is okay to feed ur baby....... believe me she is ready for something more than milk

My baby girl is 5 months and 1 week and she has been eating solids since she was 4 months. I started her with rice cereal but then her doctor change her formula with added rice starch. therefore, i do not give her rice cereal no more. I give her 1st stage vegetables and fruits twice a day. She drink her milk in the morning 8 am (6 oz) then at 12pm i give her fruits puree with 5 oz milk, 3 pm 6 oz of milk, 6pm vegetable and 5 oz milk, 9pm 6 oz milk ( last meal ). My baby seems happy with her food schedule along with her sleeping schedule which is 11 to 12 hrs. I think It all depends in the development of your child and how eager they are to eat solids.

I started my son out at 4 1/2 months on cereal. He's not crazy about it plain, so I add fruit to it. I get the Gerber rice cereal and add gerber fruit. He loves it with bananas. I also started giving him other fruits & veggies but just once a day. My pediatrician advised to give him food once a day and formula or breast milk the rest of the day.I alternate the times he gets it, sometimes its lunch, others dinner.

You know, our family gave us a bit of pressure to begin introducing baby food to our baby once she became 4 months old. Our pediatrician recommended to wait until 6 months, a book I was reading recommended 6 months due to a reflex of kicking the food out with their tongue (if the baby kicks food out with their tongue then they are too immature for baby food), and finally I asked a dietician who says the leading factor for obesity is giving children baby food under the age of 2 months. It had something to do with the stomach being too immature to digest the semi-solid food and so reiking havoc on the digestive system.

I am in the same boat with you my baby is going through growth spurts and on some days takes in 8 oz each feeding - all day long.

i haven't started feeding my baby with solid foods, i think it's best to wait 'til the 6th month.. improper weaning may cause developing allergies. we must consult the pedia first.. :)

we started weaning amber at 4 half months, i thought it might be a little early as they now suggest 6 months but she's well above average in weight, & healthy, and was showing all the signs, ie loved watching us eat! so we gave it a go.
we started with a bit of plain baby cereal, then i decided i'd go all natural and steam carrot (which she liked) and sweed (which she didn't! lol) but then i got concerned that doing individual veg like that means it only has a few vitamins in, so we're now on baby jars and packet baby cereals, using cow & gate stage 1 foods and very happy with these so far. she's now 5 months & 2 weeks and happily taking 2 meals a day as well as still breastfeeding

Yes. I started two days ago . Anja will be 5 months tomorrow. I started with rice cereal and she is eating nice. I will also start with fruit in a couple of days. I am just giving her a small spoon two or three a day. I actually want that at 6 months she EATS. That's way a started now so she can be ready and get use to it in solid foods by 6 months. Don't know but i feel that is the right thing...

Every baby is different. A baby will be fine on breast milk or formula up to six months, but most doctors will say you can start 4-5 months with cereal and stage one baby foods, as well as they meet the requirements as are mentioned below. I feed my son baby food every other day or so. I don't feed it to him every day because he gets a little stopped up (which means he isn't ready for a lot of it). If you do start, just try one food at a time and see how your baby reacts. She will probably love it!

I just started Carla this week with a breakfast. They say to wait until baby is 6mths but my boys were both 4mths when they got a spoon feed. Carla probably could wait but the same as yours she is watching every mouthful we take. She has a 7oz bottle every 3hrs and also sleeps 12hrs at night.

We started Penelope on rice cereal about three weeks ago, so she was almost five months. Most people say to wait until six months, but if you think they are ready try it! If she doesn't seem to like it or has a hard time swallowing it, stop and try again in a couple weeks. Every baby is different, we started Penelope because she already had two teeth and was constantly reaching for our food. I don't give her rice cereal as her primary food, but it's nice to give her while we are eating instead of popping out a boob at the dinner table, lol.

I am waiting until 6 months because the pediatrician said to. My son still seems content with mama milk so I figured it is cool to wait. He does seem very interested when we eat though. My pediatrician said that starting babies to early on solids can cause obesity and diabetes.

I just started my son on rice cereal last week. I knew the minimum was 4 months and he was sooooo ready for it! The signs you want to look for are they are atleast 4 months old, they can sit up with support, they have doubled their birth weight and are atleast 13 pounds and they open their mouth for a spoon!

My daughter just turned 5 months today, we started her on stage one foods at 4 months old and now that she sits on her own and army crawls we moved her up to stage 2 foods. She is still drinkng 6-8 oz per bottle and 4-5 bottles a day. As long as the baby food isnt cutting into their formula or breastmilk intake and they can sit with or without support you are ok to start the baby on food. If you would like to feel more comfortable about it, just ask your pediatrician, some say 4-6 months and some say absolutely not before 6 months, so its up to you. Good luck with whatever decision you decide!
