Hi everybody. My son was born on the 16th of April and weighs 9kgs (or 19.8 pounds). Everyone tells me he is really big so i was just wondering if other babies his age weigh about the same.

My daughter was born on April 24, 2009. She weighed 7 lbs., 12 oz. She is now 6 months old and weighs 16.1 lbs. Her pediatrician says that she in the 50th percentile for her weight (average). Every baby is different. All that matters is that your baby continues to follow his own growth path/rate.

My daughter was born April 21 and weighed 19.3 pounds at her 6 month check-up. Everyone tells me that she is really big too. She is also off the charts tall!

You should be concerned about your baby's weight only if your child does not seem to be growning mentally and is having health issues (i.e. is sick often). If your baby is reaching the mental milestones, even if it's at a little slower pace, and is in general healthy then forget about how much he weighs! All babies do hit growth spurts generally at the same time, but that's just on average!! Some are earlier than others and some develope later! However if it makes you feel any better your son is right around where he needs to be. My daughter is a little over 19lbs now and is in the 50% percentile. Your son might just carry that luggage in his face or tummy making him appear heavier than normal but he is right on target so just enjoy him and disregard all the comments! Better to be too much baby than too little!

born 25/4 was 10.55 lb and 21.7in (4.785 Kg 55cm) now 22.8 lb and 28.3 in (10.34kg 72cm) he has always been up in the 97% size wise and I hear the big boy comment all the time - he is, but what counts is that he is a happy and contented baby. He was 9Kg at 4 months apart from a sore back the only downside has been outgrowing his capsule so early

Jaelyn was born on the 22nd of april and her six month check up was yesterday she weighs 16lbs 12oz and is 27inches long but she is 64% in the weight category. Me and her father are both tall and quite skinny so I don't know if she will end up being the same way but my mom is saying she is underweight. It feels like I feed her constantly and she just went through a growth spurt.

My son just turned 6 months on the 23rd, at his 5 month check up he was 20 lbs...dont worry about your baby being too big - people always have something to say - either your baby is going to be too small or too big. I've never heard anyone say " your baby is just right!" if you are concerned ask your doctor, but Im sure your little boy is just perfect!

The great thing about breastfed babes is they cant have too much milk, they only take what they need, my wee Charlie was 11kg at her 5 month weigh in!!!!! so god knows how much she is now, and thats all breast milk.
