my daughter is 13months old and gathers her blanket up every night to form a pillow under her head.
Is it to early to give her a thin pillow or does it increase the risk of SIDS?

Most doctor says after 1 year old, they can start to use a pillow.

just be careful if you decide on a pillow and she has her blankie that there isn't enough stuff in the crib for her to pile up and climb out of the crib. My son still doesn't use a pillow, but that is just my choice, he is comfortable without one. Also if you opt for a pillow make sure it is not too thick and that it doesn't bend the neck at a funny angle.

my daughter will be 15 months in a couple days & she's had a pillow for months no just cuz she enjoys curling up & wrapping her arms around it. she gets to sleep easier with it. we discovered it when she was playing on my bed one night b4 bedtime =]

my 14 month old has been using a pillow for a few months now, not saying when is a right time for you, but Maggie just falls asleep and sleeps better with it.

I believe that pillows are okay after 12 months. I think we may have given her one a little earlier in hopes that she would sleep better.

My daughter is almost 14 months and she had been using a stuffed animal as a pillow, so I broke out the sewing machine and used a flannel receiving blanket to make a 12" by 10" pillow for her. She loves it!

does she sleep on her back? my baby is a tummy and side sleeper, she loves to hug her blanket, but doesn't put it under her head so i haven't thought about getting her a pillow yet. if you can find a small, thin pillow, i would go for it.

this doesn't really have anything to do with this post just thought it was really cool that sarahs daughter and my daughter were born on the same day and year =)

my daughter who was 1 on the 29th april has had a pillow for at least 3 months now, she finds it more comfortable and sleeps better with it but its all to do with if you feel comfortable about it or not but i personally dont see any harm with it

i don't think it could do any harm. but if she's comfortable with her blankie then let her do that :)
