Hi moms my son is 10 mnths and he has the crawling cruising all down and stands by holding thingsand occasionally catch him standing by himself but wen we try having him stand he just drops to the floor he knows how to stand but he doesnt wnt to .... do ur lil ones do something similar or what do u moms suggest to help getting him cruising and walking

my 3 yr old was walking by 8.5/9 mths, he commando crawled pulled himself up on furniture on day and was off, it started from no where, my 10 mth old has been crawling for months, she has been pulling herself up on everything for the last couple, stands by herself, now she tries and takes 3 or four steps by herself, she loves holding someones hand and walks around like she's super cool, I think it depends on how stubborn they are, because both my little ones just wanted to be up and running, she climbs furniture!! My eldest didnt walk until dead on one year old. hope that helps a little.

My 10 month old is doing the same thing. His was crawling at 6.5 months and pulling himself up on things at 7.5 months. He started walking around the furniture at 9 months and can stand by himself but sits down when he realises he's not holding on. He likes to walk when we are holding his hands , but we keep getting told by others with older children that we should just enjoy him at this stage and not to push it because he will walk in his own time.

My son will sometimes stand up while holding onto the kitchen stool and push it around a bit. I am not worrying about the walking yet, right now we are really enjoying crawling around together. He likes to have me chase him and he likes to chase me. It is a lot of fun.

A baby has to learn how to relax their hips and knees while standing before they can walk. As long as they have not learned how to do that walking is only achieved by holding onto something. It will happen on its own when they are ready. Don't worry about it at all.

Every child is different. And my daughter is 9 months and 2 weeks and she does pretty much the same thing. Im really not worried about her walking yet. She'll do it when shes ready. In the meantime enjoy the crawling :)
But if you do want to help him with walking then maybe a toy that he can stand with and walk would be somewhat helpful....

ive heard that the longer they crawl the better...i didnt get so lucky when mine started walking at 9 months.....but something with their motor skill and using opposite arm/leg is good for them to practice for a while. After mine started walking she didnt want to for the next 2 days...babies just do things in their own timing!

My son has been crawling since he was 6 months old. Now he pulls himself up while holding onto furniture and walks along the furniture or while playing with his lion push toy. He's not walking alone yet but I'm not concerned. He'll be walking before I know it. Then we're all in trouble!! LOL

I agree, my son had a push toy thing for a couple weeks then began walking at 8 months. I think they need to be motivated to walk. Crawling is so much easier for them lol. My boyfriend would hold my son and I would hold something he really likes (his fuzzy blankey or his little phone) and he would always try to walk to it. Just a suggestion... it worked for us :]

My son does the same thing, I bought him a push toy that he can walk behind, which he likes ok, but more for the toys attached to it than for the walking behind it part. I figure he'll walk when he's ready, if I hold his hand he'll walk beside me around the room, but if I try to let go he just drops. I don't think its an issue, I'm not in too big of a hurry for him to walk anyway-- that's just more babyproofing I have to worry about-- lol :) :) Good luck to you!

your son will walk when he's ready. and he'll walk for the rest of his life.
so why push it. my son is just shy of 10 months and does the same walking along furniture, occassionaly free standing. they all develop at their own pace.

id say just keep trying over and over lol my daughter just turned 9 months and has been walking for about a months now well including from when she was just trying but she has it sown pat now def try one of those ride and walk toys!!!

and I think most of us want to rehearse something new by ourselves and show it to others when we are sure we know how to do it :D

My son learned to stand by himself at the age of 7 and half months and He started walkin 8,5 months old. when he first stood by himself he did it without relizing doing it all focused on something else, when he realize he didnt hold on to anything he dropped down. I'm sure that it only takes a little while for your son too to build up the needed self-confidence he needs to stand and then he has to start buil up the confidence he needs for that first step. Our son walks very much in home but elsewhere he needs something very interesting to focus on before he takes even that one step... I think it all comes to confidence. We got that babystroller or what is it chair with wheels. He used it two weeks and than started to stand. so don't know if it helped or not, cause he could have learned it by himself also
