My baby just turned 5 months old on the 15th and since then she's been very fussy. I think she's bored. I try to play with her and I've been pulling out ALL her toys to try to keep her occupied but nothing holds her attention for more than a minute or two anymore. She's not sitting up alone yet so I don't know what kinds of other toys I could get to interest her...any ideas? I'm struggling and she's driving me crazy...cause I hate when she's not happy...if you have ANY advice please share.

I found this in a search for "5 month" and "fussy"...

Could you enlighted a FTM as to what tricks/suggestions you have from your experience now that this was a few years ago?

I had the most laid-back, easily amused, smiley, laughy baby until about 4 months-4 weeks/5 month marker---

Then BAM!!!!

I'm. so. so. so. drained. from. hearing. that. allllllllllllll. day. long.

Teething? New-solid food adjustment? CAN'T be bored... I am his personal circus clown ALLLLLL day long.

Hold on... let me grab another clump of my hair...

My son Loves his exersaucer. Its a supported chair that rotates with toys surrounding them. The toys are attached so he cant drop them (which doesn't result in you picking them up every 5 seconds). They are great. Along ofcourse with a jolly jumper!

My daughter is the same, when she seems to be going stir crazy my husband and I will take her on a walk and that'll keep her occupied much more than any other play. Sometimes just sitting outside does the trick.

We just cracked open the door bouncer, too. My little 5 month old boy LOVES it. Works like a charm. He also spends a lot of time sitting up on the couch. He's nice and propped up against the cushions, and he won't get hurt when he falls over. He'll sit there for hours picking up the toys around him and putting them in his mouth. I think he just likes to sit up like an adult.

i noticed amber (5 months old too) getting a bit bored, she requires a lot more picking up and attention than she did a few weeks ago. i find one toy at a time works better otherwise she gets too busy and frustrated. i've also bought her a door bouncer which she loves. she spends much more time on the floor too just rolling around the lounge with a couple of toys to try and get, also a walk in the pushchair outdoors does wonders to give her a change of scenery!

My little guy is almost 5 months and is doing the same thing! We have a jumper that he loves, and he also loves baby einstein. Also, recently his favorite thing to play with is his bag of baby wipes. They are the ones from costco in a crunchy sounding bag and he will play with it more than anything else!

we also have a very bubba who gets bored easily. the bumbo chair is great if your bub likes to sit up and look around, good to watch telly in also (my girl likes 'yo gabba gabba'). Going for walks in the pram, just outside, or my baby actually likes it at the shops because of all the hustle and bustle. Try maybe giving them a bath if they like the water. We also have a jolly jumper with a musical mat, which she loves! Goodluck!

my daughter hit the same point a wee bit back. i remembered when my 1st daughter hit it and i had NO idea what had happened! once i figured it out the fun began; how the hell do you entertain a bored 5mo?? one thing that worked was a Bumbo chair. she could sit up in it w/o needing much neck support (it's made for 4/5mo+) and it gave her a different view. secondly, and i'm no hippie, but the big tree in our front yard gives HOURS of entertainment. i put her under it and the leaves and flowers moving give endless amusement--just keep her warm or the howling begins!! hope this helps...
