Angelina is 30th of April, so I still have a little time. She is my second and I have always gone all out for Jordan, my first. I have learned a few lessons (like even with a theme, you don't have to have ALL the stuff with that character printed on it. People never use all the napkins and cups anyway. Matching colours will do just fine and cost half as much). I was thinking of a quiet little tea party, girls only. Until Jordan caught on that she was having a party and his eyes lit up. Couldn't do that to him.
I am trying to keep it small. But it is impossible. We have a mums group of 4, 3 of which now have two littlies. Plus there is family. Plus I am now making a few new mumsy friends with little girls.
Toying with the idea of 3 seperate parties (way to keep it small, huh?!). Thursday is mums group day-so a nice cake. Then Friday is the actual day-family over for dinner, possibly a BBQ. Then Saturday or Sunday the kiddies party, aimed at girls but any stray brothers or fathers can go outside and rough house.
The theme was going to just be balloons, she just loves them. However since her 5th and 6th teeth have come through, she has popped a few in her face and isn't quite so keen on them. Perhaps Upsy Daisy will grace the cake and a few bits here and there.
I love parties,Christmas and Easter. Any reason to decorate and craft. My husband just thinks I spend money on everything I possibly can. I made a pinata for JD's last birthday, which came out great. Couldn't find one to suit the Ben10 theme. So I painted one and it was AWESOME. Look it up in youtube under how to make pinata's when the kids are a little older.

We're EXTREMELY excited for our son's first birthday and I've been eagerly planning the special day.
He's having photos done by a dear friend - it's called "Smash the Cake" - pretty much he'll get photographed in his overalls playing with a big birthday cake. Lots of fun!
I'm making my own invitations for close friends and family - instead of asking people to bring gifts for our birthday boy we're asking for a birthday card and a small monetary donation or item from an animal shelter wish list that is near and dear to our heart. Our babe will still have some gifts to open, but we wanted to celebrate his birthday in a unique way by sharing the day with many deserving cats & kittens.
We're also going to have a big matte for people to sign - at the top we'll have something like - "You're Special Because...." and people can sign it...then we'll put his picture in and tada, a beautiful keepsake!
PLUS, we'll have a table set up with note paper and a keepsake box. We'd love for people to write down their wish for him....then when he's older we'll give him the box of wishes.
Of course, we'll have cake - a small one for him to muck around in and then a bigger one for us.
I hope these ideas are helpful! Have lots of fun!!!! :-)

I hosted a small family only party for my little one. We didn’t want to choose a theme but to simplify everything, we took up Winnie the pooh theme. I had one discount coupon from MyBirthdaySupplies that I used and got my supplies at a really low price. They minimized my DIYing efforts. We ordered food from a nearby takeaway. Baby slept towards the end of the party, so we had ample of chitchatting time.

I ordered decorations from Birthday Express.com. I picked out a little monsters theme for my little guy. I rented out our community club house and am having friends and family come and celebrate. I am so excited to see his face with all the balloons and decorations. I havent decided if we are going to do a traditional cake or a cupcake cake. The cupcake cakes tend to be much easier.

Well, my husband, who is deployed, picked out a cute first birthday princess party supplies. It is kinda funny because before she was born, he was the one that kept saying "No pink!" and of course the princess stuff is nothing but pink. It is amazing how she has wrapped him around her little finger.

I haven't really started planning yet but we'll most likely do a party here at the house. Something simple with friends & family & a big cake & maybe a pinata for the older kids. I'm the last to have kids in my circle so all of my friends' siblings' kids are much older than mine & mine don't go to daycare so they don't really have any little friends their ages yet either.

I'm a pretty decent cook so I'll likely make the cake & all the food for the day. I usually do burgers & dogs on the grill.

I am just so happy I made it through the first year all on my own, I am throwing a BIG party! We are having it at a water park (I live in Vegas so it should be warm) and inviting the other kids from the babysitter, all my friends with kids, my parents and sister with her kids are coming. We are doing a barbecue, having the "piggies and paws" lady do handprint pictures, swimming, huge cake, the works. All in a ladybug theme for my precious Lilybug! I can't wait. I have had it planned for 2 months! This has been the best year of my life.

Well, we live in ND so my hopes for an outdoor party in the sun have been crushed since we have too much snow! So instead we have rented a hotel room and will be having a swimming party! I cant wait... my baby girl is such a sassy little diva and a princess that I couldn't choose which one to do... so I have decided to do hot pink, lime green, and black polka-dot themed party! My husband has a lot of family in the area and I have a lot of friends that are "family" so we will be having 50+ people there! I am making her round cakes with polka-dots all over and her very own little round cake too. I am also making her invites, I just did her pictures myself for the invites but I will be taking her to Sears to get her birthday picks done!!! I can't wait, the only downer is that my husband has joined the Navy and is away at school right now so he will be missing her birthday : ( !!!!!

Having a party with about 70 close family & friends. Since Dalton's birthday falls on Easter (I will do his party Saturday) I will be having an Easter egg hunt and a few games for the kids. I will have food, cake and ice cream. I am not really going with a theme just light blue so it won't clash with the Easter things.

My daughter Brianna turns 1 on April 2nd. She LOVES Mickey Mouse Club House and Toys R Us has lots of decorations. Safeway makes a "baby block" birthday cake just for baby if you buy a 1/4 sheet of cake (Mickey Mouse theme of course). Unfortunately I have to work so we're going to have a party with family and friends at a pizza place. My house is too small for a large party. I can't wait! Happy Birthday to all the April babies out there!

nothing too crazy, probably. the 1st birthday is more for the people attending to get together and see the baby than for the baby's fun and enjoyment :)

i'll try to make it memorable though, probably just have a BBQ with some kinda theme, i'm thinking luau partially because i already have a ton of luau party stuff, lol. call me cheap, oh well. he'll never remember it!

i hear that publix (not sure if you have that grocery store near you?) has a first birthday cake deal, where they give you a mini cake for baby to "eat" -- more like destroy -- with the purchase of a regular sheet cake. i thought that was pretty neat, i'll probably do that. make sure you take lots of pics and of course have the bathtub ready after that one :)

isn't it great that our children were born in april? just in time for better weather (hopefully).

i'm planning a bbq in a nearby park like some other parents. my theme is the princess and the frog because my daughter is half african-american and i want to celebrate that.

i dont care that my baby will not remember her first birthday. it's the most important birthday if you ask me. i'll be taking lots of pictures and videos so when my baby gets older, she can see what a blast she had.

i hope you all enjoy your baby's first birthday!!!

For her actual birthday which lands during the week I will be giving her her own cake to dig into. Can't wait to see the mess she'll make all over her face. I've planned a big party for that weekend. I come from a Hispanic family and so we go really big to the point where it can become exaggerated :) My theme will be ladybugs & butterflies. I've made my own invitations, my family will be cooking all the meals. I've bought her a big white dress with a red ribbon around her waistline and some beautiful glittery red wings. Fortunately since her siblings and all of her cousins are teenagers, I will don't have to play any games yet. I'll do the whole clown, cotton candy thing on her 5th bday to invite her school friends. Well good luck and hope your day is special!

We are then inviting immediate family and close friends to stay for lunch and a swim in our pool (since it is still Summer and hot here in aussie land). My daughter had a butterfly party and my son had a jungle party. so we are going the car/truck theme for Nate. I have homemade the invites and will post a magnet photo of the birthday boy to everyone after the party with a thankyou note for his pressies.

I am having a "Little Cupcake" theme for our little girl's first birthday party. We will be having family members over for a barbecue. We are going to have cupcake balloons and invitations. The cake will essentially be a huge cupcake and a mini cupcake for her to have on her own. All the guests will also be taking home a cupcake. She also has a "birthday girl" shirt with cupcakes on it. Real cute!! Good luck with the party planning!!

We having close friends and family (all the people who were at his christening) and all their children round for the afternoon and evening. Doing it this way so we can spend the day with our little Harper first then let the mayhem and fun begin. Doing it quite big with banners, balloons etc. just doing a running buffet so Im not in the kitchen all the time and can enjoy it all. I have bought a 1st birthday plate - which is square and quite big and you get everyone who is there to celebrate with us to write a small message on (Im doing adults on the front and children on the back) you then bake it for an hour and there you have it a very speciall personal keepsake. Enjoy it is the main thing as before you know it they are starting school and their parties are never the same. Soooooo excited still cant believe how quick this year has gone.

[deleted account]

Ava's birthday is on Easter Sunday so it was a bit of a no-brainer for a theme really, haha. So I've bought many balloons in pastel green, yellow and pink and am planning on making some bunting too. We are having an open house so that friends and family can come throughout the day. I really can't wait, I get so excited about Christmas with decorations and stuff, my fun is definitely going to begin the day before with all the decorationg. I figure that next year our little girl will be old enough to tell me a theme (secretly directed by me of course :-) I made an amazon wish list of things that I know she'd like and sent it to friends and family as we kept getting asked what to get her, but its not essential and can be used just as a guide, which has been really helpful so some. I really like the circus and nickname themes - what a fantastic idea. Will try and remember those for next year!

I can't believe a year is just 1 month away.... my, how the time has flown! We are planning a small family dinner on my daughter's birthday and then having a bigger family/friends party a few days later. I'm a fan of smaller, family parties just because that's what I grew up with. But, my husband's family and extended family are all in the area and we're throwing the party so they can celebrate our girlie.
My daughter is a huge fan of ducks (one of her first words was "Dut!" as she held up her rubber ducky in her bath at 10 mos). So, I'm incorporating ducks into doing purple flowers because I am so not a character theme kind of person. I found a really cute pull-string pinata (1stWishes.com) which I thought would be fun and something she can do with her older cousins. We're doing a finger food potluck, some cake (of course!) and opening presents. I'm keeping it as simple as possible.

Happy Birthday to your little ones!!

It should be a great day. Then my husband and I, and probably my parents will take my son for his first trip to the zoo. I thought that would also be a nice little memory for his 1st birthday! Her whole room is in Hello kitty, as well as her toys and clothes! lol We are going to have face painting, a bubble station, a tent/tunnel set up for the bigger kids and a little ball pit for the smaller ones. We had to rent the hall down the street from our house cause there turned out to be way more people then we originally thought!
