Hi, I don't want to jinx anything as I'm enjoying her waking up late but my girl who is 13 months goes to bed at 7pm and wakes up at 8:15/8:30am. She has been for the last two weeks. I'm happy for her to sleep as am not working yet but is this normal?
I love it ;-)

If she is sleeping for that long, then she obviously needs it! I wouldn't put a stop to it, especially as waking up before she's ready may make her grumpy. She could be having a growth spurt or teething. My daughter always slept for longer when this was happening. I have always enjoyed the fact that my daughter is a fairly late riser (she never used to get up before 8.30am, and even though it's usually earlier now, it's still never before 7am) and always feel so bad for people who say that their kids wake up at some ridiculous hour, like 5am! I couldn't handle that. I don't put my daughter to bed until 8.30pm because 1: she won't go to sleep any earlier than that anyway, and 2: I'd rather that than have her wake up too early. I'm hoping that my son, once he gets into a proper sleep routine, will not be an early riser either...

I sure as hell wouldn't!!! lol

She's probably going thru a growth spurt :) I think you're brave putting your kids to bed at 7! lol My daughters bedtime when she was that young was like, 10pm! I wanted her up as long as possible so she wouldn't get up thru the night, etc. PLUS, if we put her to bed any earlier, she kicked and screamed and screeched at the top of her lungs for as longgg as you'd let her...

So yeah - enjoy it while ya got it :)

If you don't need to wake her up to go somewhere, let her sleep and enjoy the quiet time for yourself :-)

My 13 mo falls asleep about 8:30, (We finally have her sleeping through the night) she wakes at 5:00 to nurse and falls back to sleep till about 8:00.

I agree, let a sleeping baby sleep. My 13month old has been tired after her 6am bottle so have been putting her back down and she wakes around 8.15 also now, we are expecting our 2nd baby any day (6 days over now) so are enjoying the extra sleep in while we can. If she didnt need the sleep she would wake earlier.

Yes! I'm pretty sure it is anyway... My baby sleeps from 8pm-8am and takes two naps during the day.

eric is asleep at 7 and up at 6 without fail, if i put him down at 8 he is still up at 6 so maybe i should put him to sleep at 6 so he gets 12 hours total. is there anything wrong with only getting 11 hours at 1 year?

Wow! I have never had to wake my 4 1/2 year old! My 13 month old goes to bed around 7.00pm, and wakes around 5.30am/6.00am at the moment! He did used to sleep until about 7.30am, but that has gone!

Make the most of it, as sleeping patterns change all the time, and I wouldn't worry at all!

Enjoy it while you can and let her sleep! My 13 month old has a 7:30 pm to 6:00 am schedule and I am enjoying that compared to her sister who never seemed to sleep at any age.

Wow....that is wonderful. Definitely enjoy it while it lasts. She is probably in a phase where she is not teething right now, but when she starts again she might not sleep as good. If you are ever worried she's sleeping too much just check with your pediatrician, but I would definitely enjoy it for now.

If it aint broke... Really, if quality of sleep isn't an issue (ie naps & nighttime are good) then, you're fine!
I'm jealous!

Oh I wish my little man would sleep that long. But he does take two naps during the day. This is normal. Each kid is different and will sleep as long or as little as the feel they need. I let my little man tell me when he's tired

Totally normal! My 13 mo. old goes to be around 7 or 8 and gets up any where betweeen 8 and 9:30. She only takes one nap a day sometimes its an hour and a half and sometimes up to 3 hours, no matter how long her nap is she still sleeps the same at night. We are lucky to have good night sleepers!!

my son is the same, he goes to bed around 630 or 7 and doesn't wake up until around 8 or 9 (for the past 4 months). I have to wake him up during the week since i am in school, and he adjusts easily, on the weekends i let him sleep until he wants too. He naps at a usual time, and his mood isn't any different.

If you were going to go to work or needed to wake her earlier then you can try and see how she is if you did. More than likely she is sleeping long because her body needs it. If she is getting between 14 and 16 hours total sleep in a day then she is average.

I wouldn't worry about it until you have to wake her up! Enjoy getting up later!

hey, my baby girl which is 14 months old has average 10-12 hours sleep a night since she was 5 weeks old. she now goes to bed inbetween 8 and 8:30 and doesn't wake up til 8:30 most days, sometimes even 9:30-10:00 i have never been worried, i go in a check on her of a night and she is fine, she also has atleast 3 hours sleep during the day, usually in one big nap. I wouldn't be worried, the only time i am is when i know my daughter is sick like recently but yeah Never wake a sleeping baby. She is obviously sleeping because she needs it, or shes growing. For your sake i hope she stay in that routine for you. i love sleeping in. :)

My boy who is now 3 and 1/2 years old sleeps from about 9 or 10pm through to sometimes 11:30am and rarely, but sometimes even later than that! If he goes to bed before 9pm, he always wakes up two hours later, and refuses to go back to sleep until 1 or 2am! Gggrrr. But, He has always slept much later in the morning than other toddlers... Not sure why. Sadly, we lost our youngest son, Brandon, who would be 13 months now... That is why I am replying about my oldest. Hopes this helps. Also, regarding naps, it became the biggest challenge at about 3... We would fight over it for nearly 2-4 hours daily, until we finally took them away, unless he falls asleep in the car around 3-5pm on his own. He still very much needs the nap, but rarely takes them. Also, bed time is a difficult time of day to get him down. Bedtime battles are huge this year. As far as sleep goes though, he appears to still need between 12-14 hours nightly, and I never worry about it. He obviously needs it. I stay at home with my son by the way... :)

I agree with these other comments. Your child is sleeping that much because she needs it! :o) Children do their best growing while they sleep! My daughter is a super sleeper and has been since I took her home from the hospital. She will sleep from about 6:30/7 until about 6:30ish and is still taking two naps that are each about 1 to 1 and 1/2 hours each. Let your growing baby girl sleep! :o)

Nice :) I'm glad you asked that question. My son usually wakes between 6 & 7am. If he sleeps past 7am, I've been waking him. Now I think I'll change and let him sleep :) Those days he probably needs it. Blessings.

Don't wake her! That's normal! they say babies need 12-13 hours sleep of a night!! So your one of the lucky ones that achieves that! My son goes down at 7 and wakes between 7-8 in the morning.

I personally though wouldn't have them sleeping past 8.30 -9am just so it wouldn't muck up my day time routine and 2 day sleeps.
(but 8.15-8.30 is great!)

I only wish! From what I have read it is normal. Kids go through stages of sleep a lot, sleep a little. My LO woke up at 4:30 this morning. My husband found her in the "crawling position." She is just getting mobile so I think she wakes herself up now. Thankfully she went back to sleep for a little bit. If you don't have to be anywhere, I wouldn't wake her. If you are going to start work and want her to wake up at a certain time, you could start waking her a couple weeks ahead so she is used to it. But for now-enjoy it!!
