My daughter started sleeping thru the night at 2.5 months old when the Dr. said it was ok to lay her on her stomach to sleep since she had good neck control. now she is 4 months old and sleeps 10-13 hours a night.

Wow there are some really lucky mothers out there...10-12 hours? I wish. My daughter wakes up at least once a night and tosses and turns alot. She starts by sleeping in her cot in our room but after she wakes up in the night she wants to be in bed with us. If anyone has any tips PLEASE share.
just like my baby.. tosses and turns most of the time all night.. by the time 4:00 comes around we give in and bring her on the bed then she sleeps til 8

Sophie was waking 1-2 times at night until 4.5 months when we started to introduce solids (cereal). From that first day she had cereal at lunch, she was sleeping through the night, from 9:00-6:30! Now she sleeps 9-8-ish. She's both breast and formula fed (I BF her just morning and night now. At 4.5 months I was also BF'ing the middle of the night feeds)

my almost 6 month old is still not sleeping through the night. The longest stretch we've gotten is 7 hours and only twice has he done that. Some nights he'll wake up once or twice for a feeding and go back to sleep. Other nights he'll wake up more frequently and just want to be held--Mommy is tired! I have a hard time letting him cry it out.

Yes my almost 6mth old has slept thru the nite since we got home from the hospital, she goes down at 8.30 til 8am sometimes 9am. about a month ago she started waking up a couple of times during the night and when i spoke to the plunket nurse about this she suggested that we give her 2x solid feeds a day so she has lunch at 11 and dinner at 4ish and then a bottle before bed and she has taken to it, and not woken in the night since. My 5 year old also slept thru the night from about 7days old. Both me and their dad love our sleep so maybe it has rubbed off on them.

Mostly. She had been pretty consistent about sleeping from 8:pm through till 5 or 6 am. But now, she's waking to eat about 1:00. She's BF so I figure she's just hitting another growth spurt and needs to eat. Right now, she sleeps all the way through maybe half the time.
I work a swing shift so it's not a big deal to feed her at 1:00am before I go to bed. My DH brings her in to me when she wakes up later in the morning so I can get some more sleep while she eats.

I finally got my 5 month old daughter to sleep throught the night. I have to admit though I used prayer, but also when she wakes up at night I don't run in immediately and soothe her anymore. Now she's learned to put herself right back to sleep. I also started setting her down for naps when she's sleepy but still awake. She's learned how to feel comfortable on her own now. A great book for these issues is "Happy Baby Healthy Sleep Habits", you can find it just about anywhere. Good luck and don't give up when baby keeps crying. It took an hour of crying once for her to finally fall asleep on her own. Now she takes longer naps too., I'll be praying for you and baby-Tiffany : )

No! My LO slept well from birth only waking every 4 hours and then progressed to drop the 10pm feed and slept from 6:30 till 2am, had a quick feed and then back to sleep till around 6ish when we get up ... the 2am feed started moving towards 3 or 4 and then suddenly she started waking more and more until eventually she was waking almost every 2hrs! Eventually figured out that I had created a bottle/breast sleep association starting a few weeks ago and she now couldn't got back to sleep on her own! Luckily I hae started rectifying this since last night and managed to get her to go to sleep by herself while I patted her in her own cot. She woke at 10pm for a feed and then only woke again in the morning! 7hrs of pure sleep bliss!

My twin boys have been sleeping through the night since they were about 4 months. They go to bed between 8 & 8:30 and get up between 7 & 8. Occasionally one or the other will wake and most of the time fall back asleep on their own. I don't think I'm lucky. I read a couple of books that gave some great tips on sleep training.
Baby Wise and Healthy Sleep Habits Healthy Child. Anyone who has problems with their children sleeping at night should read them. My boys are great nappers too. 3 times a day, usually a 2 hour and 2 1-1 1/2 hours.

My Daughter started sleeping through the night from 2 weeks old. Some say it was too early, but i don't believe in waking up every four hours. If your baby's hungry they will let you know. She's slept from 2 weeks onwards the only time iv ever not had a full nights sleep is when she's not well. She's five months now and slept from half 6 to 9:30 the other morning!

My 6 month old sleeps through most nights, has done since 6 weeks, 7.30pm till 7am!Although sometimes wakes up for a play & singing session at about 2am but never cries for a feed!
She loves her solids so she has her main dinner about 6pm, bath at 6.30, bottle at 7 then bed, having a nice full belly always knocks her out completely!

My daughter usually sleeps through the night but I noticed these last two days she has awakened around 4am with a very wet diaper. I use two different brands to compare them to see which diaper holds her better. I use Pampers and Huggies in the red pack. It seems as though huggies is doing the best job. I will be monitoring the two and will get back on that one.

That is great news that she sleeps so well...You are probably right about your daughter becoming dependent on the pacifier and the need to replace that dependency with a more healthy option. I can't complain, my daughter will not even look at a pacifier. She has denied it since birth and now she is five months old and would not even think of it. She has this funny habit of sucking her tongue, something I think that she inherited from my husband. I think it's the cutest.

My daugther is only recently sleeping through the night. She started sleeping 11 hours at night around 2 months, but at 3.5 months started waking up more and more frequently. A couple of weeks ago she was waking up at least once an hour. I blame it on the paci because she had become completely dependent on it. We got rid of the paci, and then I turned into the paci. I know it's controversial, but we did Ferber, and it has worked wonders. She goes to bed without a fuss around 8 or 8:30. She wakes up once around 4, and we nurse at that time. She goes back to sleep until about 7:30. Naptime is a whole other story, but we haven't started Ferber at naptime, and her pedi wants us to wait until she's a little older for that.
