There is so much you can do with your baby indoors.

1) read stories to him at this age they love books with bright colours. Rhyming books are really good, they like the rhythem in the rhymes. I like to read Dr Seus books and the hairy mclairy range, but any book is great.

2) put the bouncer near the window and point out all the things you can see and the colours.

3) get a baby play gym if you don't alreasy have one and let them play in it, they are really stimulating for babies.

4) sing songs to him or put on the radio and sing to what the radio is playing

5)lots of physical contact like Stina suggests, and play games like peekaboo ( babies love this!)

6) put your baby in the baby carrier and go about your daily chors your baby will love just being with you.

7) just talk to him, have a conversation with him and listen to him babble, copy his sounds he will like this alot.

Hope some of these suggestions help :)

What I like to do with Alex is put him in his jumper in front of a mirror and watch him jump. He LOVES his reflection and it's just great times to sit and encourage him as he plays. It's also a great work out for your baby's legs and overall body strength!

My favorite activities with my 5 mo:

Tickle time. Anything I can do to get her laughing from the belly- it makes my day.

I cycle her legs and sing "Bicycle bicycle go so fast, bicycle bicycle go so slow, bicycle bicycle here we go, bicycle bicylce step on the gas."

I lay on the floor with her sitting on my belly and while I sing "Grand ol' Duke of York" I either lift her up and down in my arms, or I hold her in a sitting position on my belly and raise my belly up so my body is flat from shoulders to my knees, and then I lower her back down again.

Grand old Duke:

Oh the Grand old duke of York

He had ten thousand men

He marched them up to the top o' the hill (raise baby)

and he marched them down again. (lower baby)

So when you're up your up (raise baby)

And when you're down you're down (lower baby)

And when you're only halfway up (raise halfway)

You're niether up or down. (Raise and lower)

There's also the cuckoo clock song that I do with her.

Everytime the clock cuckoo's, raise your baby up into the air.

Tick- Tock, Tick-Tock, I'm a little cuckoo clock. (gently swaying side to side)

Tick-Tock, Tick-Tock, Now I'm striking one o'clock

Ready, Set, Cuckoo!

Repeat till your arms or your baby are tired. :-) Increase the lifts with each to coincide with the time- 1, 2, 3 o'clock etc.

my dd also loves fingerplays...

with baby on his back, hold your hands above him and move your hands according to this little song:

Open, shut them, open, shut them, give a little clap clap clap,

Creep them right up to your chin....

But do not let them in!

Open shut them, open, shut them, give a little pat pat pat (pat babies tummy or knees)

Open shut them, open, shut them, place them in your lap lap lap.

Have fun! and if you have a carrier, they love watching what you're doing around the house... and just because the weather is turning cold, doesn't mean you can't take them outside. Bundle bundle, carriers are warmer than strollers... and get outside. It'll be good for you and baby to take a walk as winter sets in.
