I really need help on how I can get my little guy to eat meat! When he was younger and we first started him on table food (around 6-7 months old) he would eat every kind of meat me and my bf ate. Now, the only meat I can get him to eat are chicken nuggets, weiners and cheese smokies,(he used to love bologna, but now won't eat it).Obviously,I don't want to feed him those types of meat everyday since they're so high in sodium and not that healthy. He used to love eggs also and eat half an egg a day,now he throws hard boiled eggs on the ground, scrambled eggs I can get him to eat once in a while, but definately not 2 days in a row(tried that, didn't work well)He loves his fruit, veggies, breads, crackers, cheeses, dairy products,it's just meat we have trouble with.I honestly don't know what to do,the doctor said to keep trying to feed him,but not force it since I have him on a toddler supplement drink, but I'd love him to eat meat!Any help?Any ideas?
Thanx!!

Well last night for the first time,he ate spaghetti with us at dinner!Shocked me.Usually it doesn't seem to matter if I slow cook the food or anything,he will not eat it.Sometimes,if we cut the meat into strips,he will eat some of it,but not all the time!

My son likes any meat that's been simmered for a long time...like the ground beef in spaghetti sauce or baked beans, the chicken in chicken cacciatore. My son is the same as yours when it comes to scrambled eggs too...it's like one day he loves them the next he wants nothing to do with them. Does your little guy like brown beans? Yogurt contains a lot of protein too.

the question is, is he chewing the meat? if he's doing that, it's okay as long as he swallows the juice from the meat. my oldest went through that around the same age & that's the advice the nutritionist gave me. If he's not chewing it up, give it time, but don't give up. My nephew eats all kinds of meat because we always tell him it's steak :-)

My kids like meat cooked in a slow cooker, it's much softer and easier to chew. Easy to make even if you dont have a slow cooker, just meat, some lentils if you like, frozen veges, a can of tomatoes and cook it on the stove top for an hour, serve it with rice or mashed potatoes, cous cous etc.
Good luck!

We went through this when my daughter was a baby. We supplemented her protein with beans, cheeses, etc. A basic vegetarian diet. She would eat chicken, but that was about all we could get her to eat. Not surprisingly, she is now grown and a vegetarian. My husband and I were both basic meat and potato eates, so it was a real lesson for us. But her pediatritian told us just to make sure she gets plenty of other protein and she'll be healthy. She was and is. It was just trial and error. And if we had meatloaf for dinner, I would make her a grilled chese or good old pb&j. Hope this helps.
